I went through this for years. I was underweight which made me anemic and I had no energy not to mention bad self esteem.
I drank healthy weight gain shakes in between moderate meals. Make sure you eat healthy, as was stated earlier, junk food will not do it. You need to eat six times a day but not big meals. Just eat moderate breakfast, lunch and dinner and try the shakes in between meals.
Make sure you exercise and if you are like me, you won't have this problem by the time you are in your 30's. Your metabolism changes as you get older. Now I have to actually watch what I eat and am trying to lose 10 pounds. lol

Well you probably are gonna wanna gain muscle, not fat. I would suggest going to the gym 4-5 times a week, and really working out those parts that you would like to gain muscle on. No matter how much you want to gain weight, never do it by eating junk food, that will make you gain fat, which is horrible in a million different ways. Get plenty of exercise, trust me in a few months you'll be in love with your body and you'll make your friends jealous :P

Eat a lot of carbs, but the healthy ones like oatmeal and cream of wheat. Add fruit. Also, protein shakes will help you gain weight.
I had a doctor who had me make these shakes because he thought my bones were too weak. It made me gain 30 lbs. Since I didn't have a weight problem, this upset me, but I have to say, I was the healthiest I had ever been. I am still trying to shake those 30 lbs and that was 5 years ago.

This page should help you...

It suggests doing things like drinking Ensure between meals and such.
There are lot of calorie dense healthy foods out there. I know that Avocados are 1 of them. Unfortunately I am trying to lose weight so I haven't done the research.
Your best bet though is just to eat the same food healthy food as everyone else, but add the Ensure, Slim Fast, and protein shakes to boost your calories in a healthy manner, without stuffing yourself so full you wanna puke.

I have trouble losing weight and keeping it off-this is why: I love pasta with sauce and bread, lunch meat sandwiches with mayonaisse, cookies and milk, bacon and eggs, bagels with cream cheese and eating portions that are too big for me when I really like what I'm eating-try that. Of course I have since fixed this problem by doing the dr phil thing and exercising. Good luck because it's probably harder to gain weight than lose it.
