if you're just hanging out with friends how are you supposed to pick up 'signals' coming from a guy?

He'll talk to you a lot, smile at you, laugh with you, stand close to you. If he doesn't do any of that, then he's not into you.

There's no sure way to do it. Absolutely none. All those "he looks this way or that way" do not mean anything and, actually, you can get into an awkward situation, if you interpret the "signals" the wrong way.
If there's real interest, you'll just feel it. Relationship is not a science, it's a feeling (at least this is how I feel about it.)

It's very difficult, but if he pays more attention to you he could like you, or he could think that you are just cooler to hang around and talk with as a friend. If he flirts with you, he may like you, or he could just think that it's fun and easy because he can walk away, since you are just a friend. I suggest you tell him your feelings, be prepared for him not to feel the same way, but in the same sense be prepared that he may. But I would just be honest and see how he feels so you can move on with a clear head of where you friendship is! Good Luck!

That's a great question! And I can understand your feelings. You're trying to find out if the person is sexually attracted to you, or just being friendly towards you. Are you out to family and friends? In other words do other people know you're gay? If people already know you're gay, then the person coming on to you might also be gay. But, if you're not out and no one really knows your sexual preferences, then I would say the best way to find out if the guy is in to you for sex or just for friends is to spend some time with him. Go to McDonalds and just chill for awhile with him. Let him do the talking and listen carefully to what he's saying to you. If you listen to him you'll soon find out what his intentions are. BTW some guys are gay curious. He might want to try gay sex one time to see what it's like. My advice to you is listen to him. Let him do the talking. And be receptive to what he's saying.

I think that he is "feeling" you out just as much as you are feeling him out.
From what little I know, it is the glances exchanged , since subconsciously , you are watching each other. That is if the chemistry is there.
If he claims he has a crush on you and yet you can move around and he doesnt know where you are in a room at any given time, then he is just a charlatan and maybe a jokester.

That's easy: Guys give off easy signals like always looking at you. Their class is one way but they go the long way just to pass your locker. They'll ask you if you want something and give it to you with no hesitation. They'll take the rediculious comments from their friends for you..

Look for the signals that he likes u...
1, he won't look at u very much. This usually happens before u both start "conversing" with each other. He might look at u, and then look at the floor. (A guy did that to me & it was really pissing me off cuz i liked him, and i was pretty sure he liked me, but then my friend asked and he told her he did, he was just shy.)
2, he will start acting really stupid. This usually happens once u have started laughing and having fun with each other. Ex- he might start doing dumb stuff like tossing a piece of candy in the air and trying to catch it in his mouth. (Kind of a bad ex. but u no wut i mean.)
3, he will start getting closer to u physically. Like putting his hand on ur shoulder or just sitting next to u within 3or4inches even counts.

well if your hanging out with a bunch of friends, and theres a certain guy that goes out of his way to hang with you, then he proably likes you more than a friend. i mean, like, he always sits next to YOU, and maybe touches your arm playfully, if when he talks to everyone, hes constintly looking over at you to make sure your listening, then he probaly likes you.

Sure, but you have to get to know him. If he treats you differently than other people, especially other girls, then that is a big clue. The only way you will really know, though, of course is to talk to him.
