Well one, snakes (because I had to decapatate one when I was a kid, it was either that or it striking down my mom and pets...) Two, what comes after death (I'm spritual but hey, if the Christians are right then I'm screwed...)

You're definitely top's with that question. Fear is a state of mind and it's been a topic of discussion since the beginning of time. Man was given one thing all other creatures didn't get, the power to reason. So with that premise all else follows. Fears are as endless as the one's who fear. It's a state of mind. Now to the conquering part. Again it's a state of mind and you'll get as many answers to that as there are people trying to overcome. Some use religion, some encounter the fear by experiencing it (ex. afraid of heights, then bungie jump or parachute from a plane) while others seek professional counseling or use spirituality gifts. I could write a thesis on this but then I would be in my doctorate program and I swore off more schooling. Thanks for the mind teaser.

Well, markusbdarkus, as one of your fans, I will be honest with you. Satan is well at work in this world, and especially in the hearts of Christians- always giving us troubles upon troubles. Story time. So, I became a Christian at a very early age... I have grown up as a southern Baptist girl, attended all my little VBS's, and came to know Jesus very early and understood the power of the cross early on. So early, in fact, I don't even remember the first time I said that prayer that changed my life eternally. Now, deep inside, I knew I was a Christian b/c I have a firm and active relationship with Christ, and I can recall "recommitting" (which is really just repenting, in my opinion) my life countless times (especially at a VBS one time), but Satan used that my not knowing when I was saved as poison arrows to my heart. I remember being so scared I wouldn't end up in heaven. However, I would turn to my trusty Bible and let it comfort me, reminding me of the RELATIONSHIP, not necessarily the prayer. That's how I have conquered it... and over the years of fear, I finally began to realize- through the Word, speakers, and the trensending peace of God that Satan was simply trying to get me off track in my Walk.
I also am scared of torture.... but Jesus endured that, then the weight of sin on Him, and then God forsaking Him for that small time during Earth's darkest moment.... so its the LEAST i could do. :) God Bless.

Being bitten by a snake. I have a terrible phobia of snakes! Go figure...I live in rattlesnake country!!
Me conquer this phobia? I am not sure I could do that! But, I can tell you that everytime I have crossed paths with one, God protected me. Once, with a water moccasin and one with a five ft. long rattlesnake.
In as much, I truly believe that God has saved me from death as I was surely a target for the rattlesnake. He was rattling and coiled. I froze! I could not move at all! Instead of striking me, he simply relaxed, stopped rattling and continued on his way, under the rocks! Now, I beleive it was intervention as God had more for me to do. Otherwise, I have NEVER seen a rattlesnake back down as they are aggressive and they WILL stand their ground.

Right now. it is the sky is dark and ugly. My greatest fear is that my wife won't get home from work in time before the Beer Store loses power like they do every time there is a bad storm.

My greatest fear is losing all the people I love and having to face life alone.
The only way I can conquer this is to keep loving.

My greatest fear is that I shall pass without really having helped someone. What I did is tell my surgeon that when I have my next surgey I want him to put my bone marrow in the database of people who need transplants so maybe I can help someone.

Death. Conquer it by ignoring it and living. I'll be kicking and screaming on my way out. Good times.

To wake up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror. How to conquer it? Do not look at myself in the mirror or get a new mirror.
