hey, im a student who applied for an exchange program in the u.s. and i got accepted. The orginization placed me in a school called hartford public which is in CT. Im really really scared cuz when i researched it online i found that there are a lot of crimes there and its very ,, umm... well.. ghetto! lol, would you recomend a student living there with a diferent family? Also, does anyone know anything about this school, cuz its ratings were not very high when i checked on google! thanks a lot!

haha to the first person who answered.. of course i wanna make sure its safe!!! i dont want to live there for a year and end up there and get stuck there! this is a huge disicion and i wanna make the RIGHT one.. :) lol

Hartford has its pocket of urban problems - drugs and gangs. West Hartford is really nice. Some parts of Hartford are safe not all.

i live an hour away from hartford. ehh, to me hartford is not ghetto. like on tv they make connecticut look all pleasant but its not. lol. i live in bridgeport which is where you definitely dont wanna go if you dont wanna be in the ghetto. Its alright i guess. There's nice people depending where you go. And 50 cent lives in New Britian, CT. which is right near hartford!!! lol. you'll be able to see his house if you find it. I did!!

Its not as bad as you may have herd. Schools rank near the bottom of the state and violent crime is a problem but if you pick a safe neighborhood it can be OK.
