Maybe if your child wants "workbooks" go to Wal-mart and pick up those $4 Kindergarten books. They are fun too.

Any home school store will have a kindergarten curriculum for $10 -$20. That'll be plenty for the first year. Read outloud to get them started on listening. Just get any books your child likes from the library. Let her/him pick some out too.
I too highly recommend "Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons". The book is great. We started that in kindergarten. Both of them could read by 1st grade. That book is also only $20.....So $40 will get you started! :-)
In first grade, I would recommend Math U See over Singapore Math.

Your own! K is not truly necessary from an academic standpoint.

* lots of playtime with various textures
* Shapes, Colors, Numbers/Math, etc can all be taught/reviewed easily with life items/experiences
* nature walks and observation skills
* manners
* tidying up and obedience
* visits to the library and other "field trips" to places the child is interested in ie as the fire station,etc
* if you feel you need them or your child likes them you can buy cheap workbooks at Barnes & Noble or Walmart type stores and supplement with those. They should NOT be the main curriculum
* copywork - keep a notebook for the child to write down words, copy words out of books/the dictionary, Bible verses, etc.
* Lots of reading aloud (and if the CHILD shows interest begin phonics)

That's it! Really!!

Other than one or two kindergarten level workbooks, I wouldn't bother buying a curriculum. There's thousands of free worksheets, craft ideas, science projects, etc., there are educational games and songs and stuff you can play at that age, plenty of resources at the library. The younger grades are easy to do without full blow curricula materials.

Comprehensive Curriculum workbooks come in Grades K-6th.
They are around10.00 for a book, big enough for the whole year.
