Tap water is loaded with chlorine and fluoride so if your body is not used to these chemicals then it may give you some discomfort. The local governments tell you fluoride is good for your teeth but fluoride doesn't work that way...it is a topical acting chemical. That is like if you got a cut and ate a tube of neosporin to heal it. Fluoride is a waste product of many industrial processes and dumping it into your water is a cheap way for companies to get rid of it.

The discomfort angle I can't help with, but I can tell you that the taste of the boiled water has to do with the fact that the process of boiling reduces the amount of gas in the liquid.
As for the discomfort, mention it in passing as being of (mild) concern next time you go for a physical/check-up.
Incidentally, since you are buying water, do yourself a favour - unless your tap water is particularily noxious (and some bugs are not killed by boiling or bleach), buy yourself a carbon *block* filter and use it. The one the company I deal with sells, while being over $1000, works out to somewhere around 12 cents per litre, then 7 cents per litre after the first year, for replacement cartridges. Before you ask, no I don't have one personally, my city draws water from a "safe" source, and is filtered and treated with flourine (flouride) and chlorine (99%[?] of which is removed before it enters the municipal supply lines).
EDIT: DO NOT DRINK DISTILLED WATER! Many bottled waters label themselves as distilled. Distiliate leeches vitamins and minerals from your body...substances that your body needs. While it probably won't kill you, it does make it easier for other things to make you sick.

Just what is tap water anyway? It is water that comes out of a pipe. ALL BOTTLED WATER comes out of a pipe somewhere. And, your tap water has been "purified", too. At least in the USA, every cities water supply must be tested and passed at least once a year or the EPA will shut it down.

Not sure. Have you ever tried water purifiers? I have one called eSpring. It was about $600. The filter costs about $150 but lasts for about a year. It uses UV to kill crud then an awesome charcoal filter to filter it all out. It is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

If your water is from a city supply, you should be able to drink right from the tap. Reports just came out about Aquafina, and how it is actually just tap water! Google it. If you are just trying to avoid chlorine, you don't need to boil it because that boils out oxygen and other things in it. Just setting the water out for a bit causes the chlorine to evaporate.

It drives me nuts when people insist on only drinking bottled water. Grow up. People have been living on this planet for eons, drinking whatever water they could find mostly. We've always known that bottled water is tap water, and the crap that is put into tap water is mainly beneficial supplements to your diet, such as flouride. Don't be gay; go suck a tap!

there are several good quality water filters on the market, you can attach them to your faucet without any tools. They are cheaper than buying bottled water, and you never have to wait for the next delivery.
