That's easy. Be a MAN and fulfill your contract!! Suck it up, ruck up and press on. This is a VOLUNTEER force, nobody held a gun to his head and made him enlist. Sorry it isn't the party you thought it would be, but be a man about it.

The military is not a simple desk job and your friend should have known that going into it. The plain fact is that there is nothing honorable about actively trying to reneg on your contract with your country.

It was your friend's choice to enlist, so he needs to follow through. That's what a real man does. There is no "easy" way out of the military once you are in. It's not something to be taken for granted. No one put a gun to his head, nor was he drafted in. He made a decision, and now he has to live with it. Point, paragraph, period.

Your buddy signed a contract with the government. You don't say how long he has been in or how long he has left.
Anyway, he needs to suck it up and do his job.
Welcome to the real world. Quitting is not always an option.

He or she can always proclaim himself a conscientious objector.
This has been universally recognized as legitimate reason for not serving or suspending service in any branch of any western military force.
Just think, if no one was willing to murder, how would they wage war? Bankers and the defense contractors they profiteer through would hate it, but the world would be a better place. How simple... just refuse to fight. Refuse to be party to heinous crimes like killing. Refuse to participate in atrocities like torture. It is just like a Nike commercial only in reverse... Just Don't Do It!
