These people support their own children... They don`t ask for any charitable donations. Why is it a crime to have so many children? Some people like to surround themselves with children.

I believe the family you are talking about is the Duggar family of Fayetteville, Arkansas. I have seen them on television quite a few times. I think they have so many children is because of their religion which I can't recall at the moment. To me they seem like a perfectly happy healthy family. The mother home schools them so they don't go to school to learn and I'm not sure what the father does but I don't think that they are on any kind of government assistance. They all help out with the cleaning and cooking and they even built their own house from the ground up, all of them even the very young. I certainly wouldn't be able to have that many kids but as long as the family loves on another who is to say they are wrong?

What right do you have to judge someone else? The Duggar's support their own family.
They are not "imposing" their children on anyone. For the person that mentioned their homework - they don't bring any homework home because they homeschool all their kids. LOL
There oldest son hosted a TV show about the family a while back. I was very impressed actually. There was a lot of love in that family.

But, he used to be a state legislative person.... I cant remember exactly it, but those people have such well behaved children... And they cut corners where they can: the mother sews most of the clothes, they shop in bulkx2 so they get discounts on food for buying so much.
I added it up and in their lifetime of raising kids they have spent about 18,000 dollars on diapers! Thats more than some parents make in a year!!!
If these people want to have children I dont see them asking for handouts. But, the media probably has given them money bc of the TVshows theyve done. If anything, Id want to be left alone thats a family not a circus act!!! I dont feel like we have any room to judge. They having 17 kids is better than a bunch of 15 year olds having 1 a piece and going on welfare.

I thought this at first, and then I learned that the family you are talking about (the Duggars) they support themselves, they made smart decisions early in their marriage and worked hard and saved. They have no debt to their names (How many of us can say that) and if they can't pay cash they don't buy. The love this family shares for each other is quite moving. The only thing that I wonder is how much one on one time can each parent gives to each child. Even thought they have a great “system” were they all help eachother.

Well, it is definitely excessive from an emotional standpoint...even if this man is a multimillionaire and they have plenty of everything to go around, there's no physical way that the parents have the ability to support that many children emotionally! Can you imagine how much homework those kids bring home? How many relationship crises? Needs for late-night deep talks? Even just the "Mommy read me a story" need must be overwhelming...

He is acutally a state rep. They dont get anything from the state. They have never asked for any hand outs or anything. If you would watch the show on Discovery you would see that they are a perfectly normal family just have a lot of kids.

they support their own family. People are amazed how many children they have and their life style. they are probably the most well behaved and well mannered children you will ever meet. they don't go splurge money on things that are not needed like TVs cable cell phones expensive clothing and so on. they are home schooled children and mom makes most of their clothing. they bargin shop. and he used to be a state Representative but none of that matters except that they love all love their children and they provide the very best for them and if they want to have more let them. its their lives not yours.

Do you know how he is supporting his family? Maybe he is a doctor, or lawyer, or a rocket scientist. Maybe he has a very successful home business that provides for him and his large family. The truth is, you don't know. And as long as he can provide for all of his children, and if he can provide for 25 children, surely he has the freedom and right to make 25 children to take care of. As long as he is taking care of them, it's none of your business.

Is this that family that was on TLC. What got to me, was the assumptions they put on the older kids to care for the younger - didnt really appear to be gender balanced either - quite stereotypical. Putting these assumptions to the extreme. Then there of course was the girls haircuts.
