If you're not in or of Britain, do not. It's just annoying.

Well I can talk with my fake British accent. You can learn to do that by imitating the way British people speak. Just watch BBC World and repeat what they say them. This fake accent won't fool real British people though. But if you want to naturally pick up the accent by living there, it's too late if you're over the age of 12 or so. After that, it is almost impossible to naturally pick up (or lose from their point of view) an accent.

Try going on sites such as this one: AUE: The Audio Archive. Click on "The Rainbow Passage" and listen to it. You can also print the Rainbow passage from the net and you can read along. This is only a start. If you are serious about this, find a serious competent voice coach. There is nothing wrong with wanting to modify your accent anymore than it is changing your hairstyle or hair colour. Get books in the library about accents. You will learn for example that the final R is dropped in English pronunciation (rubbah, propah). If you are still a student, enlist the help of your English teacher. You are not a fake, you just want to please yourself. Go ahead and good luck. By the way, I also prefer the British accent, clearer and easier to understand. (English is not my first language)

i love british accents too!

well, for me, when i want to talk with a British accent, i try to remember how to pronouce each word like i hear from tv shows or movies that have people who talk with British accents. they accent everything which is really neat.

i try to notice how they pronounce everything and then mimick it to the best of my knowledge.

for instance, i notice words that end in the letter 'A', i think for some words they don't pronounce the 'A' such as Americans do. they tend to say for example the name 'Amanda', they would say something along the lines of 'Amander'.

i don't know how to really explain it, i think it's something you pick up after you listen to it long enough :). so watch alot of British movies and television and you'll get the accent soon enough :).

i hope that helps!

Practice, don't pronounce your r's and work on your ashes.

Seriously, you should get a book that explains the characteristics of British English pronunciation and then just practice, record yourself, listen to yourself and analyse your speech. Then try to pick up the mistakes you make and then try again.

Either you've got a cryptic username or you already do, mate.

If it's a cryptic username, come to England, live here a while (why not? everyone else does..!) and you'll be speaking English in no time

The only way is to be brought up from infancy in Britain by english-speaking parents.
Simple really.
