It could be jealousy of what his father has, or might think his father pays you more attention so he is sticking by you to get attention. He could also be angry at his father and feel it is a "competition" for your affections. He may not be getting enough attention at home from his real mother. Whichever, it is a phase, talk to him if it bothers you.

Strder you should be grateful that he thinks so highly of you. I'm sure that you know others who aren't so welcomed by their partners children. Maybe his natural mom is not as much fun as you. Who knows he may even think that your cute and have a crush on you. Or perhaps he enjoys the time and recreational events that you two share. Life is good and if this little guy is getting along with you so well it will certainly help your relationship with his dad also. Best of luck.

Because you are new to him and he likes you and also doesn't get to see you a lot. My children often seek attention of my and my husbands friends when they come over to visit. Some children seek attention of women more others men more it is nothing to worry about I am sure that after time he will begin to not seem so clingy toward you.
