Actually guinea pigs, being hindgut fermenters, are not designed to eat a high carbohydrate diet. They are cellulose eaters. Fruits can upset the delicate balance of their digestive system and the sugars can become acids in what should be a basic system. A low pH will kill off the 'good' bacteria and allow overgrowth of deadly bacteria. Distress, dehydration and possibly diarrhea can result as death can be the final outcome.
Feeding fruit to an animal like a guinea pig is like playing russian roulette. You can get by with small amounts most of the time. But one of the times, it may prove fatal. You need to decide if it is worth the risk.
Guinea pigs should have free choice (good quality) grass hay and about 2 tbsp of pellets a day. Green leafy vegetables such as endive, parsley, carrot tops or clover-should be given daily.
Bottom line: Bananas are not a natural part of a guinea pig's diet.

Sure, along with some strawberries, apples, carrots, broccoli, bell pepper, spinich, kale, collards, parsley, kiwi, raspberries, and anything else you can find in the produce section of your grocery store.
Guinea pigs should actually have about one cup of vitimin C rich fruit and veggies per pound of body weight per day to stay healthy any way.

you can try, but the piggie may not care for banana - mine doesn't, she loves apples but not strawberries...don't know if this is normal or just her personal taste...
