Its an odd riddle since its not based in fact. The early church was quite diverse, with some groups being patriarchal in structure and others more egalitarian. There are a number of murals that show women as priests, and even letters that talk about correcting churches where women were acting as priests (that some in the church thought it had to be corrected means it was happening.) There were even groups like the Montanists which appear to have accepted women as leaders of the moments. Even up to the point of the Irish monastic groups women were in leadership positions---with abbesses being in charge of both male and female houses.

Sooo, you're riddle can't be answered.

(Also, I don't get it, you're talking about the early church between the time of Christ's resurrection to the 90's when Paul--who supported women leading in the church--wrote? That's what, a whole 60 years?)

Because it had to be. To get a small religion off the ground during a time and in a part of the world that was dominated by men. To give women any authority, credit, or power would have been suicide for the early church.

Look up The Council of Nicaes commissioned by Constantine in 325 AD. This is where they decided which books made it into our bible. Paul, someone who had never met Jesus in the flesh, really bashed women in his writings. His books made it in. The Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene, two of Jesus's closest relative and companion, didn't. The Virgin Mary was the only person with Jesus from birth to death. Mary Magdalene was with Jesus at his death. None of the twelve were with him when he died on the cross. Mary Magdalene was also the first person to see Jesus when he arose. Jesus gave much to women. The first and subsequent leaders of the church took it away.

Because it was ordained by God, as anyone who reads Paul 's letters can determine for themselves.

I sure do love the doom of Christians. :)

I hope this helps.
