These people went free.

Did you read what the Sheriff said?
Is there no justice?

Thanks, Coragryph.

I can always count on you to employ a functioning brain, here on Y/A.

You're in a TINY minority. You know that, right?

Hang in there, Brother.

Of course the people went free.

The state law had already been ruled unconstitutional before this case was even started -- it was an invalid law when the charges were brought against these people.

What else did you expect when a state tries to bring charges based on a law that was already declared invalid?

It is considered freedom of speech. While I hate the idea of the flag being used that way, I understand that the couple feel the way they do, and they have the right to state it. Do I think they should do it another way? YES! Do I think they are being disrespectful? YES! But with that being said, disrespect is not a reason to go to jail, nor is being an idiot.

I hate the fact that proud Americans are constantly being belittled by the so called tolerant and understanding ones.

I will fight for the right that this couple be allowed to their freedom of speech.

"U.S. Supreme Court decisions in 1989 and 1990 protected flag desecration as a form of expressive conduct under the First Amendment. The state law also was challenged and ruled unconstitutional in 1971."

As silly and offensive as it is; this is America and they have that right. So long as their speech or expression does not harm the population or put them in danger; it is acceptable. In this case it's irresponsible too, but the bill of rights doesn't talk about responsibilities.

Maybe we need a bill of responsibilities too?

Well as a Brit I can't understand the American attitude to your flag. It's a piece of cloth for goodness sake!
And I must say I agreed with the 'criminals'' sentiments.

Revoke their citizneship, and shove em off to Iraq. They can join the other flag burners in and around the middle east. Case closed.

A person can eigther love their country and support it, or stake out and find another one they can love and support. It does no one good to stick just to and cry and complain.

Thanks for the website, after OJ walked I have completely given up on the American Justis system. I don't believe in anyone disintegrating the American flag.

No, I believe that idiots should be able to display their idiocy, so all intelligent and thoughtful people can avoid them, to avoid catching the idiot virus.
