Everybody’s looking at me, feeling paranoid inside
When I step outside I feel free, think I’ll find a place to hide
Tell me people, am I going insane?
Tell me people, am I going insane?

Every day I sit and wonder how my life it used to be
Now I feel like going under, now my life is hard to see
So tell me people, am I going insane?
Tell me people, am I going insane?

So I’m telling all you people, listen while I sing again
If I don’t sound very cheerful, I think that I’m a schizophren
So tell me people, am I going insane?
Tell me people, am I going insane?

"...any civilization that had so far lost it's head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a packet of toothpicks was no longer a civilizatio in which I could live and stay sane".

I think you are now outside the asylum.

Sanity is overrated, It's also subjective. As long as you are not suicidal, not a danger to others and are still sufficiently self-aware to take care of matters such as food, shelter and hygeine--you are legally and effectively sane.

Any spiritual journey worth the trip should make you UNSANE.
The idea is too strip away the illusions of consensus reality and see things that are really there, rather than the things that are supposed to be there. That knowledge brings you closer to the universe than you are to your culture and lets you view the culture from outside--with the perspective to see what others miss.

Then, you can go back and pretend to be like everyone else--only a bit odder and much wiser.

Now that I think about it, I probably should have tortured that answer into stanzas with random punctuation.

Emp, sure go ahead and BE insane. It's so much fun. you can do ALL sorts of crazy stuff and get away with it. In fact most folks get dissapointed if you DON'T do crazy stuff. Besides, sanity is WAY over rated.

Reading lyrics doesnt help determine if you are insane or not... Listening to the music does!

Dont ask me for help if a bunch of crazies come after you because you shortened "schizophrenic" either.

Im from the South so alot of your rhyming didnt work with me.

What does man call a spiritual journey. Who is it that you trust? Relationship with who? Do you know what you want or need? Surely one has a clue, right? James 1:8 A divided mind or a double mind is unstable in all his or her ways..

this sounds like it will make a great song, if you think you are going insane, you aren't, if you think you are perfectly sane, then you just might be insane.

oops, just read the rest of your comments, see I told you it sounded like it would make a great song, guess it did silly rabbit.

I'd just assumed you were always insane.

Perhaps this journey simply has put you in touch with your inner nut.
