Winnipeg. Most of our roads are a mess. A big part of this problem is that our city sits on 40 feet of shifting clay.
We also have a very cold winter and when spring arrives the frost in the ground starts to come up through the pavement creating cracks. These cracks fill with water and when it freezes at night again the pressure of the expansion of the water to ice breaks up the road surface more.

Ha, that's funny. The bay area has some of the worst bridges in the country according to this article on ABC. I'm more scared of them now than ever.

They are horrendous around the Leeds, (UK) area. They spend a fortune painting white lines and yellow lines, but do not bother to resurface the roads or repair the potholes.

I live in New York City. Navigating around potholes here is an established art form. Ones proficiency or deficiency at said art from can possibly save you from a broken axle or worse....neck.

Rotten. Missouri is one of the worst in the country for this. Did you know that bridge that just fell down had inspection ratings right at the average for the country? I saw my sister who lives in Califorina recently. She said theirs are totaly shot. In the 1960's they were the best in the country!

west yorks, uk.
i work in road resurfacing all over the uk, one problem i encounter is that the councils don't do the basics, removing weeds and filling potholes, before we arrive to surface dress the road (tar+chippings), making our work a lost cause!

Its hard to tell there has been work going on almost constantly for months around my way. One lot finishes and a couple of days later another company is digging up another patch.
