I think "Domo" means "thank you" and "ari gato" means "very much" but I'm just going by old Styx lyrics so what do I know?

I always heard it as "domo arigato" which is "thank you very much." I don't speak Japanese so I really can't be sure about your portion of the phrase.

It depends on the context. When it's by itself, it means "ant". Other uses might be as "arieru" (possibly) or "arimasu" (have it).

It means thank you.

It's spelt "arigatō" (long o). It's typically written in hiragana:
ありがとう

It does not mean hello; it means thank you.
Domo arigato gozaimasu is more polite.
