is it possible that god's plan for me was to be an atheist? and not only that but an intelligent, well-rounded, good-mannered individual. could this be what he had in mind in order to be an example that you can live a moral lifestyle without believing in god, only to tempt and test his believers into not believing?

sparki, so what you're saying is the existence of god relies solely on if i believe in one or not...

so even if he exists and if i'm going by his plan, that doesn't follow that i'd have to believe in god. it's called manipulation. but, my question purely on a sarcastic level. there is no god except the one in your head.

You'd have to believe in God to believe your atheism is part of God's plan. And then you wouldn't be an atheist any more, would you?
NEW REPLY: No, I'm not saying that God's existence depends on our belief. Quite the contrary -- God exists or doesn't exist regardless of whether anybody believes God exists -- same as any other Being who ever lived. There are people who walked this planet -- they were born, lived, loved and died -- but left no record of their existence. You don't KNOW they exist, and I don't KNOW they exist, but that doesn't mean they didn't.
So it is with God. All of your disbelief doesn't make God non-existent, any more than all my belief makes God exist. It doesn't work that way.
But when you go around suggesting that you can justify your atheism as "God's will," then you're established a nice little paradox for yourself. You can't say it's God's will unless you believe in God.

Absolutely. However, that's not to say that He doesn't want you to believe in Him, nor does it mean that being "...an intelligent, well-rounded, good-mannered individual..." will avail you anything on the Judgment Day. God knows who will choose to believe in Him and who will not. That doesn't mean this is the way He'd best prefer it to be. "God is not willing than any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." However, if there's no reason not to believe in Him and no reason not to choose Him, how is there faith involved in doing so? "It is by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God lest any man should boast."

Its not Gods plan for any to be an atheist. The bible tells us that God wishes all would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
