No school loans, no grants if the draft is brought back for some reason you could go to jail.

You have to register its the law, if you are 18. Its so that the military can know how many potential soldiers it will have IF, hope not, a military draft was to be ordered. You have to or else no student loan or any other government aid programs. There not going to break down your door and make you join the military just because you signed the Selective Service card. That's only if sh*t hits the fan and have to have a military draft.

It is NOT registration for the military. It is simply so the government will know how many young men we have who are between ages 18 and ... I think 23 or 25. IF the draft were to be reinstated (which is HIGHLY unlikely) they would use the selective service list to organize the draft. During Viet Nam, if you were a full-time student you were excused from the draft.

Registering with Selective Service is not optional.

You are required to register with Selective Service by law.
Registration is the law. A man who fails to register may, if prosecuted and convicted, face a fine of up to $250,000 and/or a prison term of up to five years.
It is easy to do, you can do it online at:

It will only mean anything if the draft is started again, not likely.

If you are over 18 you must sign up for it. They can withhold schooling and other government things. it is in case they ever start the draft again. My sons signed and havent been called. They are using the reserves.
