It's both refreshing and stimulating to share and learn from others. I once participated in a study group that went from house to house. The exchange was great, and eventually a new church grew out of this group of Bible seekers.

I do both. I go to a Bible study class once a week and it's interesting to hear other people's opinions. When I read alone, I make notes to talk about at the next class. What's the problem with studying with someone?

Because as it is written in Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpenth iron: so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Different people are on different levels and have different revelations. Understanding comes when there is more than one person and perhaps someone may have a misunderstanding and gain a better understanding when someone who is on the meat of the word and not the milk of it explains it to them. Hope this helps. Be Blessed!!!!

Honestly, I would do both in a group setting and alone.
And studying with a group will give you more input. Also God doesn't want us to be alone, but in a body of believers. As a Christian which doesn't have a steady group of believers to go to and learn with might began to follow strange teachings. There is no such thing as a Christian without a church.

Always search for the truth. That may mean a Bible study with someone who does not always agree with you. But studying with someone who does not hold the Word of God to be all truth is useless.

i think that you get more out of something by discussing it with someone else. Its also interesting to hear how they apply the information and take it to heart and the kind of motivation its given them. And if they are more knowledgeable of it they can be a great help. Generally studying is viewed as boring. I think most people would agree that its more fun to study with someone or a group

I am not sure if I understand the question. Let me re write the question so that you will know why I am answering it the way I interpret it, okay?
"Why would you study the Bible with someone who didn't agree with your interpretation of it?"
There are two main reasons :
1) To challenge my own beliefs ; if I am wrong about something, I want to know about it.
2) To challenge their beliefs. If I know that they are wrong about their interpretation of it, I want to be able to communicate it.
Either way, I become a winner. I am not proud about being right all the time. In fact, I know that there is much for me to learn. After all, When did I become such an expert?!
So with more to learn, there's more influence that can be gained from someone who sees it a little differently.

Well, to gain perspective, but if you want a different light shed on different things, read through the Torah as well as the Quran. Reading different religious book expands your knowledge and lets you set yourself aside from the ignorant people in the world.

The person you are studying with may have insight that you are not familiar with, or you might spend time discussing the verses you are studying and get feedback from each other on questions you might have. It's kind of like Mentoring to one another.

So you can help each other understand. There's a lot of confusing verses in the bible. And when someone doesn't understand them, they jump to conclusions and believe in something that's not true.
