When I type in a search it says I am not connected to the network, and that I should click File>Connect. But i can't because 'Connect' is grey and I can't click on it, so then I click 'Disconnect' and then it freezes...grrrr

Uninstall then go to frostwire.com and get frostwire, free, better, faster, safer

Download Your Uninstaller!, uninstall LimeWire with it, restart, delete program directory folder, and then install newest LimeWire.

go to download.com and search MP3 downloads they have tons of free software pretty much like lime wire id recomend MP3 rocket 5
