it depends. all branches have policies on how many tattoos you can have visible outside of the uniform. one thing to consider is that there is a waiver for everything. you may have to wearlong sleeves every day, but it is not impossible. talk to your local recruiter about it

If I were you, I would call and ask if they make any exceptions to this rule. Tell them it was a mistake getting it, and it is small and see what they can do for you. This is why I tell people to wait until they are older, as things like the Navy as a career with a tattoo can get in the way of doing what you long to do. Try talking to some high up in the administrative/rules dept. Good Luck.

officer and enlisted still have to follow the same appearance regulations. Neck tattoos are disqualifying. YOu most likely have to get it removed depending on the area. As for the forearm if your hand covers it you should be good

I think that you should for the simple fact that this is a new day and age. There are more and more people getting tattoos and the unprofessional bad rap that they get I think will soon diminish. when we are the ones in charge and our parent's generation aren't the ones who have the say. Truly the military doesn't allow current officers to get these tattoos but preexisting tattoos are accepted.

I spent 22 years in the navy (retired in 1997) and never saw a single officer with a visible tattoo. Since I retired I've had a chance to hobnob around in the world of business. I've never met an executive with a visible tattoo either.

Get them removed.

I am not 100% certain of your status as a result of your tatoos. But I will tell you this --- I have been a Naval Reserve officer for 14 years and I have never seen an officer with visible tatoos. I have known several chiefs with tatoos, but chiefs are not officers.

the tattoos may not show while in uniform. if you are DQ'd for the tattoos, it won't matter if you want to go enlisted or O.

you may have to get the neck one removed.. and also the arm ones, depending on how big they are,
