Okay, I've got a 50' plasma with 420p/720p/1080i by samsung. Discovery HD looks amazing, SD tv looks okay, but you notice a lot because of screen size. I have a xbox 360 already, but I was thinking about upgrading to HD-DVD or Blu Ray. My 360 is old, so no HDMI. Can anyone tell me how the PS3 looks as a dvd and Blu-ray player on a tv similar to mine. I play games so the PS3 would get used for that too, but the main selling point is the Blu-Ray. Any suggestions or help would be great. Thanks

GET THE PS3.

It's worht every penny. There were reviews and tests done on the PS3's BluRay player and the overall HD picture quality you get out of the PS3 is as good, if not BETTER than a lot of high end stand alone BluRay players on the market which go for at least $1,000 (USD).

Another thing..... the PS3 has HDMI version 1.3 and the most expensive Xbox (Xbox Elite) only comes with HDMI 1.2

I have the PS3 hooked up via HDMI port and I only have 1080i not 1080p and STILL my regular DVD movies look amazing! I don't even use my regular DVD player anymore because the same movies look SO much better on my PS3.

So yes.... I would suggest you getting a PS3 even if it's for the HDMI BluRay Player.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

I say buy the PS3 it is the best console and a very cheap blu - ray player. You said you like to play games PS3 is an excellent gaming console and is the correct console for next - generation gaming. Samsung makes good HD tvs and when you get your PS3 the HD will amazing.

I can't say from personal experience, i haven't upgraded my tele yet, but the general consensus from the HD mags i've read is that it performs as well as standalone players that are twice the price.
It can also up-scale DVDs for a better HD picture.

Yes you should buy the PS3 for Blu-Ray movies. A normal Blu-Ray player costs $999.99 but you can get one for $499.99 American. A Playstation costs $499.99 American, and does more.Think about it.

for the guy that said he put it on the ground & it broke: for one don't put it on the ground. if you read the booklet it says don't put it on the ground it will **** up the insides. yes get ps3 it ****** great. & in a couple of weeks if you get one buy WARHAWK with it. blu-ray is winning with getting more movies. & buy planet earth for blu-ray too...its amazing watching it in HD.the end.
