From an MMJ patients point of view

First, the bad stuff about it......

....you will have trouble remembering things that happened a few moments before (like going into a room and not remembering what you went to get). This is common anyway, but it will increase dramatically. It will go away gradually with abstinence.

you will get addicted...I know people say it's not addictive but it is. Any substance is addictive. Including oxygen. But no, it is not like going off heroine or crack. It's more like trying to quit cigarettes. Which is HORRIBLE.

If you ever want to quit, be prepared to feel very angry/frustrated, and bored. The world will seem colorless and empty. Prepare for total insomnia for a period of days at least. Prepare to be drenched in sweat for a number of days or weeks. Prepare to stink like you've been dead 20 days while you go through the detox process. Prepare for total loss of appetite. It can take months to go through this. It is not fun.

You risk ending up in jail or paying some huge fine, being called a loser, losing friends who don't "get" the MJ life style and most do not. You risk not getting hired at your job of choice because you can't pass a drug test which would mean a lucrative career in the fast food service industry. On the plus side, free munchies.

You will increase your risk for lung cancer and other fatal respiratory diseases like COPD (which I'm watching my father die from due to a cigarette habit (ANY smoke you put in your lungs will cause cancer it doesn't matter if it's lawn cuttings)

You'll be spending a lot of money and not even realize it.

On to the good stuff:

You'll feel more spiritual in general or more connected to nature.

You'll get stoned....which is always fun.

You'll learn about addiction and realize every thing we do can be an addiction. You'll learn your limits, and if you get caught in the addiction trap, you'll gain new insight and empathy for others.

You'll decrease your chance of getting glaucoma

You'll sleep well

You'll be laid back and your stress levels will decrease as well as your reaction to traumatic situations.

You'll become a part of the MJ community which is actually filled with some very cool people.

But.....

there's a price (as with all things in life) and it's your choice.

If I were you, I wouldn't take the risk unless you're suffering from some debilitating physical or mental condition. Just for recreation....the price is too high (no pun intended)

um....you'd be high everyday for a year. That's pretty much it. Any brain cells you "killed" are really just laying around being lazy. You quick smoking, they'll get up and do something...

You'll have a good time. Screw everyone else here that makes opinions about things they don't know about. I am an IT administrator with a masters degree so I am not "dumb" and I just ran a 2:47 marathon so it doesn't affect your lungs like everyone who never did it says. I have a very successfull relationship with my girl and my family and friends so I am not anti-social. The problem is, the lazy kids in high school usually smoked weed. So people automatically assume weed makes you lazy. Everyone forgets that those kids were lazy before they smoked weed.

Its like comparing everyone that drinks in moderate amounts to alcholoics. its an unfair comparison.

Your dealer will love you, your girlfriend will leave you, your balls will shrivel, you will build up an immunity to it. You will waste a whole year. But then you probably don't even have a job and draw a welfare check and live with your parents in a run down mobile home. Good luck with that.

You will be really calm and relaxed. You will probably be fatter from all the munchie endused binges. You will be poorer (stuff ain't so cheap anymore.)

Wow, I wish you knew the people in the apartment under me, you could ask them. If I have my balcony door open sometimes the smell comes right up into my place!

You will lose motivation to do anything productive. You will really hurt your lungs and make your body really unhealthy. I might add you will probably lose about 50 IQ points too lol.

You'd kill some valuable brain cells, damage your short-term memory and become a pothead?

IDK. Everyone is different. I know some highly-functioning (no pun intended!) folks who smoke that on a regular basis. I also know of some who don't function so well anymore.....

I had a friend that tried that, he still doesn't know who the hell he is, still thinks it's the 80's and lives at home with his parents, no job, nothing, that's been years ago. Sad but true.
