scripture says there are no gods BEFORE Him...
it also says there is:
- no god beside Him (isa. 4:35)
- no god with Him - (deut 32:39)
- no god before or after Him (isa. 43:10)
- no other god but One (1 cor.8:4)
in other words, Jesus is not the 2nd diety or person in the Godhead. (like the trinity says)
Jesus did not become the 2nd person when he wrapped Himself in flesh & came to earth.
referring to Jesus Christ ... colossians 2:9 says...
"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
scripture says that the godhead (father, son & Holy Spirit) dwells within the body of Jesus Christ!
if you believe in the trinity, you CANNOT believe in colossians 2:9.
it's high time that all should "come to the knowledge of the truth".

There are. Even the Bible points out Baalam among others.
Also, there is the issue of where you place your faith. In a manner of speaking, if you are obsessed with money, and put your faith in it, it is a 'god' to you.
The same thing goes for anything that people get obsessed with, and put their faith in. We have any number of personal 'gods' we create to worship one way or another.
The God of Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, etc. reminds us that He is the one we ought pay attention to, and shows His great power over the others throughout the Bible.

Well, first, what is the bible?
It is the accumulated folklore, musings and writings of one tribe of people living in the Middle East, starving stone age shepherds, as were many other tribes--- Hyksos, Hittite, Egypt, Kaddish , Babylon, Abyssinia, Nubian, etc., etc., each with their own holy book, each with their own history, each interacting with the other, (life was tuff then, and it still is in that part of the world, isn't it???) bargaining for goods, land, wives, goats, and whatever, and each influencing the other, when and even during wars with each other... and of course each with their own gods to explain things they had no clue about.... floods, thunder, lightening, death, plagues. The bible is the holy book of the tribe of Israel, and that god mentioned, the god of Abraham is the one they prayed to. If you were not Israeli, it wasn't your holy book.... you had another, with another god telling you the same thing...
In this light, it undoubtedly changes your question.....

There is only one true God and that is Jehovah (Jesus). People make gods all of the time and worship them. Those "gods" are nothing. It was wrong when they made them in the Bible days and it is just as wrong now, but people do it anyway.

At the time other gods were being worshipped... also, when they wrote the bible it wasn't so much a concern whether other gods existed or not... These days people actually care

There is only One God. He is called many names Jehoveh, Allah, Shiva, Buddha, etc.
Many candles(religions), but onelight(God).
For sake of reasoning, What about the other religions before the birth of Christianity and Judaism? It makes sense to for different believe in the same god with different names. My humble view in this regard, after invididual investigation.

As a praciticing pagan I would have to say that I don't believe in that. And as one who has done their research I believe Jesus was a real person. I believe he was a teacher, a healer but not the son of a fictional god. Christianity is a beautiful religion. Its man that has done all the crap to mess it up! I believe people should believe in whatever they want. Be it not for you to judge!

I've often thought that 'jealous God' thing tells a lot about things, if there happened to be any truth in the OT.
It seems to suggest there are contenders, and that there's something at stake involving votes.

The history of the human race reveals that they were worship ping anything they wanted to and calling it their god. Our Lord said they were not gods at all, but the people did not know any better.

It is saying that NOTHING is to be a god above God who gave this commandment..... not other people, not riches, not desired things, not family, not even yourself.
In describing other "gods", the Bible include homemade idols, the gods of the other nations and even talks of them as "so-called gods).
The commandment is being subjective to the hearer and speaking of anything the hearer might make into their "god".
If you define "god" correctly, it will be clearer. (ie. "what is a "god"?)
