My boyfriend has ADHD and has been taking medication for it since he was 8. We've been friends for years and only recently started a relationship. I don't really know much about ADHD and have been trying to look stuff up online or in books but does anyone have any good links? Maybe some advice from other people in the same situation would help as well? I know I need to discuss it more with him but I don't want to go about it the wrong way! Thanks!

Dont feel bad about his medical condition. I have ADHD, too.
I have been taking medicince since i was 5, and in two more years i still will be, and that will be a decade that i have been taking them. (:

really, i find it wonderful that you care so much about his medical condition, since many people out there make fun of us. Its not fair at all, and you dont do that. that makes me really happy! and im glad to hear that you care about what its like to have A.D.H.D.

im my opinion, just go up to him and ask him what its like.
just like, ask him. straight out. dont beat around the bush. im pretty sure he will just tell you. and if you have any questions, just ask them. it will bring you two closer together, and you will know more about what its like to have A.D.H.D.

i dont see how you could go about it the wrong way, actually, since there isnt a right way to go about it. (:

since you two have been friends for awhile, i dont see why you didnt ask him sooner about it. just asking him what its like will make him open up to you, and you will feel like you're closer to him.

i wish you the best of luck ! :)

My fiance has ADHD and does take medications occasionally, those meds are not very pleasant or even needed for daily use, so don't worry if he goes off his meds. People with ADHD are not irrational and can be trusted with discretion as to when to use medications, of course abusing the meds and drug addiction is common among people with ADHD, so watch out for that. (I should mention though, it is a good buzz, so if you're into that, snort away!)

It should be okay to ask him about ADHD. Unless he has other issues, he certainly shouldn't be sensitive about it. I think the usual first stops on the google search of ADHD are good. I don't think ADHD is something that you need to make a huge issue about. It is hereditary, so if you're planning on having his babies, that's what you need to watch out for. Other than that, if he's near or in his adult years, he should have learned ways to cope with his ADHD.

Eventually, you too will learn to cope with the utterly annoying traits that some people with ADHD have.

ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a medical/neurobiological condition in which the brain’s neurotransmitter chemicals, noradrenalin and dopamine do not work properly. It is a disorder that, without proper identification, treatment and management, can have serious and long lasting consequences and/or complications for an individual. It is a long-term condition which affects learning and behaviour right through the school years and in many cases beyond into adulthood.

ADHD is a disorder that can co-exist to a greater or lesser degree, with any or other disorders such as dyslexia, autism, learning disorder, dyspraxia, conduct disorder, oppositional defiance disorder.

ADHD would seem to be more prevalent among boys than girls. Girls would more often be diagnosed as having ADD.

just be straight up with him and ask him about it, it is unlikely he will react badly to you asking and wanting to find out more about how ADHD affects his life, i would just ask him as soon as possible, be understanding about his illness and dont let it affect your relationship

Good Luck

finding on his age, you will desire to touch person shielding amenities if he's the right age. have you ever tried working together with his kin? Does he take his drugs reguraly as prescribed? There would properly be alot of aspects that would additionally be contributing to his sickness so look at it somewhat extra. I unquestionably have a feeling that he would have another psych themes, ADHD does not tyoically bring about violent and self-dstructive habit, he would opt for some somewhat professional counseling besides.

Attention Dialled into a Higher Dimention this is what the true meaning of ADHD stands for, his mind will struggle and he will hardly be able to breath at times is how he will feel when he is around people who are not calm, intelligent and genuine.
Your boyfriend has a gift, he knows when people are telling lies, he will be able to tune into a higher level of intelligence once he understands it, I bet he has an answer for everything.

my 11 year old son has this as do I so I know how hard life can be on this planet.
He will be very sensitive to many things, be patient with him and try to understand

They specialize in treating ADHD.They call it Nuero feedback, they test your brain waves and have you do excersies to help train your brain to slow down and funtion. It is a really good program. and there are others like that out there here is the link to the one I worked at:

i think is the best site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention-deficit_hyperactivity_disorder
but nothing compares with information from a person that has this particular disorder, i don't have it and i don't know people that do either, so go on and talk to your boyfriend, it really can't be that hard. Good luck!
