IT IS... but it sounds like your boyfriend was already faulty.

The Military TRIES to instill the correct values into recruits... and for the most part succeeds, but there are always those who are "bad-apples".

Dump the BF and move on

His values were taught to him by his parents. He doesn't understand the concept of loyalty and the military won't change that.

I once told my ex that he had no integrity (for lying, not paying his bills etc..) He went into this long explanation about how he did have integrity and that was the number one thing taught to him in boot camp and by the military. I guess he thought if he said he had it, he had-he just didn't understand he had to live it through his actions.

Ha, joining the military won't make you a saint. Just because some one is in the military doesn't mean the can't lie, cheat or steal, of course it's dis-encouraged, but we still do it. The military doesn't teach protocol on girlfriends either.

Could it go back to the Rearing from his parents because lying is not a trait you get from any Branch of the military wish i could help more but , I was in the Army 4 years and it taught me allot of responsibility, loyalty, organization, and leadership.

The military never taught him to lie, he was probably very adept at it before he joined. Apparently, you just finally managed to catch him at it. The closest thing the military teaches you is the standard non answer that you give on classified matters. "I can neither confirm nor deny ..........."

Sorry to burst your bubble, but if he's lying now then he's always been a liar, you just didn't see it. the Military didn't teach him that, it's something he learned a long time ago and unfortunately, the military didn't break him of the habit.

What makes you think the military taught him that? Is he not capable of learning it on his own?
