I would not knowingly do this.

There are times we get strays in and we don't know if or when they may have had them so we do it again so WE know and an adopter knows.

Added:

If it was a stray its best to do it again.

yes - over vaccinating is an issue that vets are only now recognizing. You need to read up on vaccinosis. Rabies vaccines can last up to 7 years and many vets only do once every 3 years...if you titer their blood you would see that. Rabies can cause animals to change ...maybe not permanently but I have seen a rather peaceful animal become quite aggressive in 3 days after a rabies shot. Some settle back down , some do not, some are never affected.

It probably will not hurt to do it once but why give them 6 mos apart? In an adult dog those shots are good for 3 years. But stray dogs in shelters routinely get distemper, parvo, etc shots and a rabies because no one knows their shot status. For all anyone knows the dog may have had it's shots the day b4 it got loose never to be reclaimed but better safe then sorry in that case.

It could because shots lower the immune system. Dogs only need yearly vaccines at a maximum. I prefer a minimal approach to vaccines for my pets. They get their baby shots but after that the only shot I give is rabies since it is required by law. There is a three year vaccine for rabies so you don't even have to do it every year.

You would only need to redo them if you need to have proof that the dog had them and you don't have that. Like for boarding or something.
Rabies needs to have proof, and if you don't have that, the animal is considered unvaccinated.
Only redo the vaccines if that is the only option.

Whenever you find a dog, assume it has not had vaccines and have them done!!! That way you are safe. Talk to the vet about it. They may opt to hold on the distemper combo depending on the age of the dogs, but you need to have proof of rabies vaccine!!!

No. when each shot expires they should have them again.

You need to redo these because A. the rabie shot protects the dogs from getting rabies B. it is the law. a dog must have its rabie shot. C. if the dog does not have its distemper shot it is very bad. some dogs actually die from distemper. ex. my mom bought a border collie puppy for my grandmother and it died from distemper. it started snapping out of no where and them its head ****** and it started walking sideways then died.

No, too many shots are actually bad for a dog's immune system. The shots should be given on the proper schedule. Talk to your vet about what he thinks that should be for your dog.

Depends on the life of the shot, I know some rabies shots dont last all that long. Especally for younger dogs. Before you get them done tell the person when your dog last had them.
