what proof do atheist have of that? How can they prove there is not God?

Sips a quad shot of espresso. I am pacing myself for what I feel is going to be a long day. Atheists merely ask for proof that God actually exists when a fundamentalist is trying to force them to believe. Asking for evidence when being told to change your beliefs doesn't seem like to much to ask. I never ask them not to believe or claim to have proof that something doesn't exists.
Now, will you please prove to me that Buddha, the Hindu Deities and other gods do not exist.

They can't. Many of them will point to the bad things in this world, things happenning to good people and say "see, if there was a God, he wouldn't let that happen would he?" My answer to this is: In my opinion, God doesn't make good or bad things come our way - we have the freedom of choice that sometimes puts us in a bad place... God allows us to go through the tough times so that we will call out to him. If things were always good, who would call out to their Father for help? The bottom line here is faith. I would rather live an optimistic life believing there is more, that I am here for a purpose and that God has a plan for each of us than to live the life of an atheistic, self-serving, pessimist who thinks they have to get all they can in life, cuz this is the final curtain! My bottom line - no one can convience me that God isn't real. I don't see Him right now - but do they see the electrical currents that provide lights in their homes? If they only believe in what they see, they shouldn't switch on their light switches to see if there is light... have they quit breathing? Do they see the oxygen in the air, or trust that it is there? Who can look at a newborn baby and say that child was born by chance, an accident of the universe? What about when the miraculous occurs? Trust your heart.... live an example and maybe, someday, those atheists around you will ask you - "how do you cope with those tough times and manage to keep it together?" The door will be open - then it's time to turn the LIGHT on! In Christ's love, KP

I can't prove their is not "A" god. An undefined god has no benchmarks. No contradictions can be shown that would disprove it.

I can prove their is not a Christian god. Yahweh's existence is self contradictory.

-A perfect God could not have created anything less than perfect. Of course we know the world is 1 big imperfection.

-An omnipresent, all knowing God would not have created an angel knowing it would fall and become his nemesis. He would not have created man with the knowledge that he would follow this nemesis.

-The concept of an eternal God is a falsidical paradox. Before everything, their was nothing, oblivion. An eternal God would need to be eternally conscious. Consciousness requires some degree of mental stimulation from an outside source, but before there was something there was nothing. What could an eternal God possibly be conscious of?

There's many more contradictions. These are 3 of the basics.

Hope this helps.

It is up to the person to decide in their heart that God is real or not, no amount of proof could sway you one way or another if your heart is set on something. We cannot prove that there is not a God, which some Christians cannot get through their heads (not speaking of you though) and Christians cannot prove that there IS a God, which is why some Atheists are Athesits.

Nobody can prove that there is NOT a God! But the problem is that Christians tell people that there IS a God. Whats the difference? Nobody can prove anything. I think that anybody can believe whatever they want but that doesn't make it true. I wish that I KNEW if there was a God or not.

I do not pity or disrespect people who believe in God. But people who believe in God pity and disrespect me because I don't. How is that fair? I am unsure of my "faith" but that doesn't make me a bad person. I have many friends who believe in God but they don't treat me any different because I don't. Many people of religion are very judgmental and ignorant to those who do not believe, and THAT'S why I chose to stay away from organized religion.

I guess since my belief that God does exist is based on faith then the same can be said for the atheist. The believe base on faith that there is no God. How this is possible I don't know. It's somewhat of an anomaly.

By definition, a "belief" or "faith" is something that cannot be proven.

You cannot prove a negative assertion. (For example, "There is a Loch Ness monster, prove it doesn't exist." is a false argument. You can never 'prove' a negative. It is up to the person/people who must show proof that the Loch Ness monster exists.)

Or, another way to put it, people always say something like "Take a leap of faith." No one ever says "Take a leap of fact."

I don't think you can prove or disprove god, but for me the strongest argument against the need for religion is the behavior of religious people. They usually act like they don't believe god is real. Yes, they may say they are religious, some of them even go to church, but very rarely do they really follow their tenets.

E.g. how many Christians do you know who act like this:
"You lack only one thing," Jesus said. "If you want to be perfect, go sell everything you own, give the money to the poor - which will give you wealth in heaven - then come and join me"

We can't. We also cannot prove that there isn't a giant squid orbiting around Pluto. That doesn't mean there is one.

How can you prove your God is real especially when you consider the number of Gods that have come and gone? Everyone believed in those ones just as (or sometimes more) strongly. So why not Zeus instead of God? At least Zeus was a little interesting.

I don't tell Christians or anybody else that they believe in something that isn't real. I simply suggest to them that their thoughts about god, the Koran, the bible etc. are delusional by definition. But I would never suggest that what they believe is not real. Just that there is no evidence to suggest that it is real. And to believe that something is real with an abundance of evidence saying otherwise is to be under a delusion.
