The Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD is at least as good as

the Sony -if not better. On a side note, I would choose

Sony for their 1080p LCD HDTVs, and choose Pioneer

if I was looking for the best plasma. But the Pioneer is

what I would choose for a Blu-Ray Disc player.

For the most part, it will depend upon which player has the

most appealing ergonomics and features to you. Ideally,

you should do a hands-on audition in person to make the

best informed decision. Here's a couple of manufacturer

links to compare online to help get you started...

The quality of the image produced by the Playstation3 was considered one the best in a recent comparison (can't remember where I read it, sorry). Plus you get wireless internet which is something to consider as soon blue ray discs are going to be java script enabled, so you can link to, and interact with the movie via internet. Sony are also releasing a PVR so you will be able to record TV through your Playstation3 as well.

I think, given that the only players available right now are "high end" players (because the grey market needs time to catch up and figure out how to cut corners on things like audio) you'll find that the audio is great no matter what you buy.
