I'm talking about the nazi soldiers. They had to obey orders or be killed. Also before Hitler took power Germany was in poverty, people were poor. Hitler promised to turn it around. So by following Hitler and his orders, weren't the nazi's just trying to survive and have a better life? Does the world owe them a big apology? Opinions?

cp,we often hear that illegals come here for their survival and the survival of their families, that is why they do things considered to be wrong and illegal so shouldn't we have the same compassion for the German soldiers? They were threatened with their lives and the lives of their families too.

siervocal, the illegals are hurting people. We have lots of identity theft, fraud and billions of dollars coming out of American pockets to support them. More Americans are killed by illegals than in the Iraq war and we have hispanic groups promoting the take over of this country and the death and deportation of American citizens.

Good point. I think your analogy points out that there is NO excuse in "trying to have a better life" for oneself if it means debasing another.

Well, in a sense they were following orders but at what cost? I'd be willing to bet that if their families lives hadn't been threatened by Hitler's henchmen most of those crimes would never have taken place. But no, the world does not owe Nazi's an apology, their crimes were too heinous. But I still want those illegals that say all they want is a better life out of my country. I don't want to be driven to desperation by these people! I want Americans to inherit the morals, values, and respect that has been taught throughout my life! I don't feel that we are in any way like Nazi's and I think these illegals are leeches looking for a handout and a handup to try to take over the USA! I'm so sick of their logic! And their rants about racism! They are illegal, they need to go!

The only ones who know what it was like for the Germans during that time are the ones who lived through it. The Germans are not bad people. They were brainwashed by Hitler. And yes, many had to obey orders or suffer the consequences. They didn't really have a choice. If it happened today and it was Muslims instead of Jews, I would go along with it too.

I'm sure that most of the nazi soldiers were indeed just trying to survive and have a better life. But what makes this a bad comparison is that nazi soldiers committed genocide, and the ones that didn't knew that they were willfully joining an organization that was committing genocide, and therefore they were helping the german military/government commit genocide.
Illegal immigrants who are just trying to survive and have a better life don't usually commit genocide, and don't usually help others to do so. I'm not saying that there arent alot of illegals who are criminals, and even murderers. I'm just saying that most are not.
That having been said, I am still against ilegal immigration.
Be well.

This is a strange question for me since my husbands family lived in Hungary during the Nazi occupation.True, you had to join or be shot.
My father-in-law was in the Hungarian army during WW11 and my own father was in the US army during the same time.
Funny because if they ever met, they would of loved to have a drink together.
From my husbands family I have heard many stories of how Hitler was good for Germany. He gave people work and got their economy going.
Of course being an American I am a bit confused not having gone through any of the things that my husbands relatives have gone through.
i am in Hungary now and it is still sad to see some of the old buildings in the Jewish Quarter that were used to hide people in.
I quess Hitler was good for Germany in the begining but somewhere he went insane.

They were certainly an educated society capable of knowing extermination and genocide weren't part of surviving and having a better life. Hitler did do things that brought prosperity to Germany, but he also did a lot of evil things clearly not part of that. Many Nazis did follow orders for fear of death, or kept themselves ignorant from the truth of what was going on. But those involved with the planning and orchestrating of genocide were doing so not out of survival, but out of evil.

I always felt the Aztlan stuff reminds me of Nazi Germany. The Germans wanted to regain lost territories, They see Poland, Czech, Austria and parts of France as Greater Germany, like the Mecha sees Western US as Aztlan. They talke about La Raza, the Germans talk about the Aryan race. They say they are poor and need to come here to survive, Hitler said they need breathing room. We can't keep readressing border disputes because then wars would never end. Germany have a stronger claim on Western Poland than Mexico has on California.

Wanting a better life and murdering to get it are two VERY different things. I think we can understand where they're coming from to a certain extent, but we don't by any means owe them an apology. If you disagree, look up some of the tests that were performed on Jews in Auschwitz and Dachau. That'll change your mind in a snap. You might lose your appetite for a day or two...

You must be pretty young. My dad was in the Darby's Rangers. He told things that would give you night terrors. Hitler was crazy, like Bush. He killed millions of people, mostly Jews. We don't apologize for that. As far as the other ones ( following ) orders, needed to be punished too. They had a choice, they choose their own lives. What would you do if someone told you , you had to kill your family or they were going to kill you? I would rather die!

The problem is that to get that "better life," the Nazis were willing to commit genocide. You are getting things totally mixed up here. Hispanic immigrants are not killing or even hurting anyone to achieve that so-called better life. Now you're going to bring up all the statistics about Hispanic gangs, well, who said they were the ones looking for a bright future? You can't use what some do as an argument against the rest.

i see where your coming from. no they did and do not. the only way they got money was taking it from the Jews. if people can not obey the laws of the land then they need to be put in jail or deported. i have 0 tolerance for law breakers.
