Why is it that people always say that speaking slang/AAV is bad when dealing with mainly white customers because they don't understand it, but is it bad if someone constantly uses big words when speaking to you. I guess because using the big words make you seem more intelligent, but while trying to sound smart you also confuse alot of people. And again some people don't find that type of language Articulate, but what about the people from diff. countries is their language not articulate because they speak different?

When you use slang, you sound stupid. When you use "big" words, you sound pompous and arrogant. There is a middle ground that most people understand regardless of their educational or ethnic background. When speaking to strangers, it's best to try to stay away from either extreme.

I had a debate coach once who told us: "It isn't the size of the word that counts but the right word. If the big word is the right word, then use the big word. If the little word is the right word, then use the little word." That has always made sense to me.

Slang, Black or White, is not always bad. Some of it is quite colorful. However, in most situations it should be used only when talking to friends. Use it sparingly in public. Never use it when talking to a superior, like a boss or manager at work etc.
