Ah, grasshopper, you know so little! The song that you are speaking of was written about 9/11. Toby, like many americans was pretty pissed about what happened. Many of us vets wanted to pick up a rifle and locate the B******* responsible and give them a major case of traumatic lead poisoning. Toby is a songwriter not a soldier, he gave voice to the feelings of a lot of people. Historically americans have always had anthems for our conflicts. This is no different than any of those. Lee Greenwood wrote Im proud to be an American and that was the anthem for Desert storm. What people from other countries think of this song is irrelevant, it wasnt written for them. It was written to express the anger of a nation at the unwarranted attack on their population and to put the perpetrators on notice that the bill was due for their actions.

If people "not from America" dont like it they dont have to listen to it. We need to get out of this mind set that we cant offend anyone, ever or we're wrong. It is Bull**** . Theres nothing wrong with Americans being proud to be American. Besides, you might be surprised to learn that many "non-"Americans " actually like America but just dont like some f the things our goverment has done recently. When I was in Iraq we had Iraqi interpreters working for us and living with us. Me, and some other soldiers were watching the hilarious movie Team America one day. Some guys were afraid the Iraqi terps would be offended by it ( Durka, durka, Allah, jihad ) but the terps laughed just as much as we did and even asked to borrow it to watch it again.

Honestly, I can't tell you... as I'm an American and a Veteran.

I certainly loved that song when it came out !! I still bang out the "Chimes" part when ever I hear it...

The song that motivated ME while I was serving (1985-1999) was Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be An American" (1984) http://www.usdreams.com/Greenwood79.html

They played it in boot camp... they played it the morning the USS Stark was struck... and they played it the last morning of my SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) School... 40 grown pilots, aircrew & Marines bawling like babies.

There are people not from America who hate that song no doubt about it.

The world is a dangerous place. We need to use military force to defend ourselves when we are attacked.

We should not apologize for defending ourselves even if that makes people from other countries hate us.

Those people from other countries who hate us also are the first ones to ask for our help when they are under attack.

The French are an excellent example. We rescued the French from the NAZIS in World War II, yet the French despise us.

The same is true for the other countries who despise us.

Essentially they are jealous of the United States because we are more successful than they are.

"Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ãŝš
It's the American way!"

DAMN RIGHT!!!
