pros and cons to both, hudson has more corrupt politicians, than bergen does. During the 80's it seemed like at least one or two politicians were indicted each week. Hudson has a nicer view of the city. Hudson is the only part of the"hudson- bergen" light rail that has any service no light rail service in bergen. Hudson has path train to the city. Bergen has good bus service to the city. Bergen has decent public schools (hudson has some nice parochial, co-op and one or 2 decent private schools) I don't like the hudson public school system. Property taxes are high in both counties. Shoppinig alng Bergenline is like visiting another country and fun, Bergen Malls are just like the rest of the US. Stores are open in Hudson on sundays, Bergen has some strange blue laws Stores in the malls are closed. It's easier to find stret parking in Bergen, Hudson is more densely populated. Hoboken, WNY and Weehawken are like the city when you try to find parking on the st. If you have kids I would opt for Bergen Cty rather than Hudson, if you don't have kids go for Hoboken lots of 20 somethings and Washington Ave is like spring break on sat nights. You might also want to consider Montclair in Essex Cty.Good Luck on deciding which one to live in.

It really depends what you are looking for.
Personally, I would choose Bergen County. Some of the best school systems....nice towns like Glen Rock, Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Franklin Lakes, etc. I feel like Bergen County tends to be more suburban. Close enough to the city but far enough that there is a difference. Bergen County is very diverse though....and becomes more like Hudson County as you approach areas like Hasbrouck Heights and Lyndhurst b/c of the proximity to the city.
Hudson County towns have great views of the city and easy access to the city...transportation is convenient. However, I wouldn't really want to live in Jersey City or Seacacus..etc. Houses are very close together and more urban than many parts of Bergen County. So it all really depends how old you are. People in their 20s might want to live in Hoboken (Hudson County) in more of an apartment setting whereas if I was raising a family I would definitely choose Bergen.
Cost of living and taxes is high in both areas...especially specific parts of Bergen County.

Bergen County has really rich people like in Upper Saddle River. Hudson County has better views of Manhattan from across the Hudson River.

You can hunt rats, but I don't think that they would taste very good. First is your crossbow accurate enough to hit a rat? Are you? Have you ever seen a rat remain stationary for more than a second or two. A rat doesn't have to move very far to make even a perfectly aimed shot miss completely. @Glacierwolf - I think they send the biggest trophy specimens to D.C. I'm curious though, what measurements do you use to score a rat?
