God Bless you...
No matter what the dealer tells you, you can back out of the deal, but you will lose your deposit. Realize this, though, that if you have ordered something special, you have just stuck the dealership with a vehicle that they may have a hard time selling. They may not be too pleased with you.
When you put the deposit on the ordered vehicle, did you sign a purchase contract? If you did, you should still be able to get out of it, but the dealership now has a signed, consensual contract that IS legally binding. If they really want to be hardcases, they can take you to court for breach of contract.
I sell cars for a living. This would aggravate me to no end. Either you didn't know what you truly wanted, or the salesperson didn't take the time to find out what you truly wanted. If you were my customer, because I put a lot of effort in to making sure the vehicle is EXACTLY what you want, I would be pretty ticked about right now. If I didn't do my job right, then it's my fault. But if you just had a change of mind...I'd do everything in my power to get you the vehicle you wanted, but man, it would be tough to keep my boss from getting all over you....
Just to let you know from our perspective, we don't get paid by the hour--we get paid by commission, and it's how we feed our families. One deal can be the difference between having enough to pay the bills or eating peanut butter sanwiches all month. That is why I take great pains to make sure that my customer is 100% committed to the vehicle they have ordered before I order it. I won't order it if they are wishy washy or indicate in any way that they are excited about getting into their new vehicle.
Anyway, Good Luck!!!

Entirely possible! You dont have to take delivery of the car until you sign a purchase contract. The 200 deposit, yours too. The only way the dealer can keep it is if you signed a contract stating the deposit is non-refundable.

If you are not bothered by losing your deposit, I believe you'll be okay. You do have between 48 and 72 hours from the time you sign a sales contract to cancel -- although I suspect that has expired since you are only two weeks from the expected delivery. Read the sales contract -- it should be relatively simple to determine where you stand should you cancel.

You should probably call your dealer as soon as possible. I'm pretty sure they can help you out and do something about it, especially since you're not bothered about losing your deposit! Good luck!

I would count on losing the deposit. However, if you don't want it, then call them now and they can cancel the order. Sorry that you changed your mind.
good luck.

quite specific in case you wanted to back OUT , ALL you may LOSE IS YOUR DEPOSIT. that's what THE DEPOSITS ARE FOR, SO whilst human beings exchange THEIR MINDS the agency nonetheless receives something. i could SAY call THEM AND ASK. arise with AN EXCUSE LIKE a huge scientific bill got here UP.

I don't know about the UK, but in the USA, there is no period in which you can change your mind and back out of an auto deal. Once the papers are signed, it's yours. Your situation would depend on what documents you have signed.
