She said that the birth went very quickly.

Well, duh!! What a moron...She has been stretched out by 16 other children. Of course it went fast!!

Oh...that's right. This is America and how dare I step on the rights of others to have a disgusting amount of children. The answer is "Yes, 17 children is really, really excessive."

And how is their lives private? They have a website that says something like, "Ha Ha...We're the Duggars and we have a baby factory!!" They aren't private at all...in fact, they are very public. If they were private, I would have never heard of them...

Yes, it is absolutely excessive. There is no reason to have that many children...they don't even take care of the kids all on their own, they pass the babies off to older siblings to be parented by the older siblings so they can go back and try for more.

Their family is a drain on the world's resources. It is not right for one nuclear family to consume so much. And what happens if each of their kids takes the same lifepath as their parents and each of their 17 kids have 17 kids? Then there will be 289 grandchildren from these two people. And if each of those 289 kids have 17 kids, there will be an additional 4913 people. Too excessive for one family.

I believe if a family an financially take care of 17 or 30 children they should have them and as long as they can also keep track.:O) we have only 2. My parents had 8 and they always did head counts when we went places. The older kids helped the younger kids and we all had a great time together. I would not have minded have 17 siblings:O) We are all still very close to this day.

It's not for us to judge. Everyone has their own unique situation and the one thing we all have in common is--we are all mothers doing the best that we can to raise and care for our children. In watching some of the Duggar specials on television, they believe that each child they are given is a gift from God and they happily accept these gifts. Also, from what I've seen on TV, they appear to be able to successfully care for all of their children so I guess as long as you're in a position to take good care of them--people have to do what's best for them and their situation (and we shouldn't pass judgement on other people's choices, but unfortunately some of us spend more time scrutinizing other people's situations rather than concentrating their energies on their own). In addition, back in the day, it was the norm to have a large family (1/2 of us would probably not exist right now if some women didn't have large families) and some people still hold this belief. As for your comment about her being "stretched out", her husband obviously still likes it and that's personal between her and husband only (you needn't worry about things like that--you'll never have to sleep w/her...lol). Being a mother is no easy task (it affects you physically and mentally) and a tremendous, yet rewarding experience/responsibility and I applaud all of the mothers out there--whether you have 1 or 20 children. Best Wishes to you and may you one day become a mother of twins/triplets and look back on this day. Take care.

I just can't imagine how you can actually have time with all your children. She's constantly pregnant and/or nursing, so how does she have time for the other kids. That's the only thing that gets to me. At least they can afford them and arent on public assistance. They have no debt, even their 7000 sq/ft house was paid for in cash. I guess the husband makes a lot of money.

I can't really understand why you care. They aren't hurting you. I feel for the mom. I could not imagine being pregnant pretty much 18 yrs straight. But to each his own. Live and let live. If it bothers you for whatever reason, don't pay any attention to the publicity. People get famous off much worse things. God look at Paris Hilton...what a joke.

Why does it matter to you...they have 17 children and support them all...they are not a drain on your precious American society. They wanted that many children then they have it...more power to them for having them and supporting them all. Maybe more Americans should stop having children that they can't afford.

Why do you need to pry into and judge the private lives of people who are obviously caring very well for their children?

It would make me mad if they were wanting help from the govement. If there doing it all on there own that's up to them but I don't think they can do it on there own unless there really really rich. For those who keep having kids and can't afford it they need to keep there legs crossed. It's our tax money there stealing.
