3 years is considered 'ideal' child spacing by those who have expereince and have looked into it. i have seen it work out well.
too close is really hard on the mom. too far apart and they don't have a strong bond/sibling relationship. 3 years is a good compromise.

I'm 36 with a 4 1/2 year old boy and a 21 month old girl. I waited 3 years between mine, even though i was 32 when i had my 1st and 35 when i had my 2nd. So my biological clock was ticking too. Don't worry about your biological clock if you feel you are ready to have another baby now then go for it. Its your baby and your body you wait however long you want too. I personally wanted to have time to enjoy my son before having another, 2 is hard work especially if their both very young. Good luck for when you decide to have another.

Now would be a good time. But it may get too hard to handle. So watch out for that.
My first son was 18 months before I had sex with my husband again. Now I'm pregnant again. But my cousin just had her 2nd child. The first child is 3. And her 3 yr. old got jealous of the new baby. She would hurt him. Or go in her room and yell stupid baby. And if the baby was crying then she decided to yell shut up dumb baby. And they had to share a room for about two weeks while they finished up the nursery. What would happen was she would lock her mom out when she had the baby in her hands.
& by lock her mom out I meant she would hold the door shut. Now I know it sounds stupid but if she says hunny open the door normally she would. But now it's just really bad.
So just watch out for that.

I have a seven year old and a 15 month old. I waited about 6
years. Sometimes I wish I would have had my youngest daughter sooner, but I really didn't think about it until the oldest was 4 years old. I had a miscarriage and then got pregnant again. It is up to you, I think there is pros and cons to both of the children being close in age and not close in age. Good luck to you!

I like big age gaps between mine but it seems like most other people like them within 2-3yrs of each other. My daughter and son are 6 1/2 years appart and we want to wait until my son is 3-5 before trying again.

As soon as the other baby is potty trained, or is potty training. But right now seems to be good, because your 17 mo. will probably bee potty trained by the time the other baby comes.

I got pregnant around my daughter's second birthday. I have found the spacing to be great. My 3-year old is old enough to listen to me (for the most part!). She is getting along wonderfully with her 7-month old sister.

About a year. With my first, we were trying to have another once he was 12 months old. Unfortunately, it took us a year to get pregnant. I think once this littl'n turns 12 months we will be ready to have another.
