can a native new yorker answer this question????
anyway, this is what you can do while in NYC:
take a tour on one of the NY tour bus rides.
have cheesecake from junior's restaurant (there's one on 44th street between 7th and 8th avenue)
enjoy a ferris wheel ride in toys r us on 44th and broadway, and while there go see the dinosaur on the 2nd floor
love chocolate???? on 48th and broadway there is the hersey store and right across the street is the m & m store.
go to madam toussand wax muesuem on 42nd st bet. 7th and 8th aves. next door is ripleys believe it or not
view the city from atop of the empire state building or the top of the rock in rockefeller center. the view is breathtaking.
visit ground zero.
go to battery park and take a free ferry ride to staten island (photo op of the statue of liberty)
go to brooklyn. take the n or d train to coney island. take a ride on the cyclone (NY oldest wooden roller coaster) and its a must have: have a nathan's hotdog. right next door is the NY aquarium.
do a carriage ride in central park
re-enact the piano scene from the movie big. go to fao schwartz and on the 2nd floor is the giant piano.
go a mets or yankees baseball game (if you are going in the winter grab a hockey or basketball game at the garden)
Have a great time in NYC

1. don't got to chinatown, it's pretty much a dump and they try to sell you everything there is, but little italy is nice, especially if you want a really good italian dinner
2. there is nothing to see at ground zero, except for a bunch of trucks cleaning it up. there is no memorial or anything, there's only a wall that talks about what they are going to do in the future.
3. central park is really nice, except they have a random kitty ride park in the center on the park
4. of course, you have to see the statue of liberty and ellis island (get tickets in advance, and if you want to go up in the stool of the statue of liberty then you need to get a ticket for that too, but you can't go all the way up into the statue)
5. if you like history, go see the cloisters (near the bronx)
6. don't plan on going long distances in cabs during the day. it will take forever!
7. go inside the churches, they are so beautiful; especially the Trinity and St. Patrick Church
Hope I Helped, Have Fun!

It's a very busy place. People walk very fast there. What amazes me the most is the amount of yellow cabs on the streets. There's lots of things to see there. I enjoyed their little parks in the middle of the city because it's very relaxing and I was also kinda suprised to see how they set up a place for the dogs to run about in those little parks. You'll probably have a sore in the neck at the end of the day because you'd be looking at the high rise buildings while you walk on the streets.
