There's religious blinders that most Christians wear when reading the bible. It's called selective believing. They believe what's almost believable and discard whatever opposes that . . . It's sadddddddddd. I really feel sorry for them because they really will defend their faith and their 'God' to the point of the ridiculous sometimes.
Then again, so will anyone of any faith. It's the way religion is designed . . . that's why it's so powerful.

Who says the bible is gods word? It is The human language or words or understanding that has given the many words or many faiths books bibles as GODSdoing. Bible what does that word mean ?
Bible means many many words in many faiths or ideas in many languages. Then a vote to become a so call doctrine of that book or language or what you and OTHERS call the bible.
If the many bibles or books are GODS DOING THEN WHY SO MANY BIBLE AND WHY A VOTE ON WHICH IS THE RIGHT WORDS TO BE IN THE BIBLE.
GODS words are they really in our books or bible ?
God what is that really and what is the defination in the human lanugage the word GOD. where did language come from?
Is language really Gods way? love needs no language, it is the word or the many words or many faiths or many languages that is the divider of all and the road to war,
Is the word or words really God?
The inner self has no words, and it is the slience that is the peace with -in. Ask what really is GOD word, why did not JESUS WRITE or the many other great wisdom teacher of our past.
Maybe they understood the word or human language is the divider of all time and space.
ThE GOD( WITH-IN) needs no words.
so what really is the BIBLE BUT MANS IDEA S OR SIMPLE CONFUSSION OF WORDS.
Like the man they call JESUS we are given images of him in MANY colors and forms but which is the right one?
We do not know and we will never unless you lived when he lived and as for the word or the many bibles who really said they are gods word? Humans
Who wrote the bibles the human so they are human words not GOD unless you want to say that we humans are God? HUMMMMM maybe and maybe not,
but it is written god is with-in !
Good or Evil what is that?, or black or white what is that ?
all came to be from the SAME source OR DID IT , and all will return to the SAME source DEATH.
We are all the same we all are either dead or alive .
what we do in the form of the living is a personal chocie and that is the desire to experance what we will. The laws made by man as the many books determine the religon and the good and bad,ARE GOD LAWS MANS LAWS ?
In time and space thier is no black or white, or words of wrong or right .the unknow is thier but no words or Bibles will ever be GODS doing .
God does it or she or he need a book if it is WITH-IN US it is already here and every where. look under a rock I AM THERE .. what you do to another so you do to me, for I AM the I AM and so the god WITH-IN is the now, not in a Book ,each of us is the I AM WHAT I AM,
The answer to you question why do christians ?
Eve thing aniaml like you and me, in the form ,follows what they chose to be, no right or wrong only living as a being here in the now.

The word of God is pretty clear that God created everything. So by design, he created good and evil as well to make an opposition in all things.
My favorite scripture on the subject:
"And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away. "

I think that if we don't understand the language of the 1600s we shouldn't use a translation from that period to try and make a point. "Evil" at that time didn't just have the meaning it has today. Using modern translations of the Hebrew word "rah" include: "disaster", "calamity","bad times", etc. All of which are consistent with the meaning of "evil" at the time of the KJV.....and all of which are consistent with the image of God we see in Scripture who does bring calamities such as the captivity in Babylon and the 40 years in the wilderness for our benefit.

Christians are generally a group that believes what they want to believe. Many know the Bible less well than most atheists. In fact many atheists I know became so after studying the Bible. Christians mainly look at the parts of the Bible that shore up their beliefs in a good loving deity that wants to answer their prayers and give them everlasting life. There are many logical inconsistencies in the Bible but too few look objectively.

I'm assuming that you are refering to Isaiah 45:6,7, which correctly translated reads "in order that people may know from the rising of the sun and from it's setting that there is none beside me, I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. Forming light and creating darkness, making peace and creating calamity, I, Jehovah, am doing all these things." Calamity is hardly evil, unfortunately, careless translation of the original Hebrew language has often resulted in inapproprate renderings of scripture. Jehovah did cause calamity to those unfaithful Israelites who defied him, also to surrounding nations such as Babylon when they threatened his people. To call these actions 'evil' is a bit like calling a parent evil for chastising a (very) naughty child or protecting that child when it is threatened by destruction by some other individual. I suggest you read a more up to date version of the Bible and not a translation that is quite old. Another translation reads "I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster".

Just like when I turn on a light bulb (create light) I also create darkness (shadows). Einstein said that evil wasn't an actual creation, i was just the absence of good. (Just like darkness is the absence of light or cold is the absence of heat.) Thinks like dark, cold, evil aren't actual things, if that makes sense. So, in a certain way of speaking (which Isaiah was good good at), God did create evil but He didn't actually bring it about. Only we can do that by not choosing good! :o)

What a question to ask. You are correct, Christians do discount parts of the bible. Even Billy Graham does that, and he supposed to know better.
When you don't understand how to read the bible nearly as well as you claim, then you're going to find yourself being forced to discount something to try and make sense, even when it is obvious when you're not making any sense with your understanding of what you're explaining.
" An example I have seen with one of Billy Graham's answer to a question. Someone asked Billy who is telling the truth, Jesus or a man in the old testament. Billy answered Jesus, because Jesus doesn't lie. So, you have to believe what Jesus says. Since men lies, then that means the man in the old testament is automatically the one who is lying.
What Billy's answer was incorrect. The man in the OT was telling the truth. When people sees this, they assume then if the man was telling the truth, then Jesus was lying. What Billy didn't know is that they both were telling the truth. But, because Billy and other preachers have been giving the wrong answer, they have been unknowingly causing people to sin. The reason is because they don't understand how to read the bible no where near as well as they assume.
You can't read the verses and say well we know Jesus doesn't lie, so it's obvious that the other guy is lying. You have to really observe the verses. Look at all the details of that verse and the surrounding verse to confirm what the verses are actually revealing.
An ex. Lets say that the man in the OT said that it isn't ok to divorce and remarry without sinning, unless who you divorce is dead. Regardless if adultery was committed. God's law doesn't allow divorce at all.
Jesus said, "It has been written, That unless adultery was committed you're not allowed to divorce till the one you divorce from is dead."
Who's speaking the truth Jesus or the man in the old testament? They both are.
Here's how that is possible. Notice that Jesus said "It has been written". He didn't say "God's laws", or "God allows", or "I say". Jesus simply said, "It has been written". Those words are neutral. Meaning that they don't say if it actually is or is not ok to. You have to go look where it was written and why.
Tehn you have to keep in mind other verses in the bible, such as the one that says, "God will delusion sinners to believe a lie." The bible says all people are born sinners. So then, who does God delusion? All people. Delusion means to cause others to have false beliefs.
Who does people say who Jesus was? God. Jesus Christ was God himself manifest in the flesh to appear in the image of his son. Doesn't say to be his son. But to appear as if he is his son.
You read those, then look at what Jesus fully said, then what do you notice? You have to look up where it was written and observe Who wrote and why.
In the Old testament a King told God that he's going to rewrite the laws and allow divorce and remarriage. God told him he will not be changing God's laws, but making man's law. God's laws are not made to be broken, but man's laws are. God said to him, if you do make knew laws, then I want you to include, You can remarry if adultery was committed. And I want you to put it in writing.
Notice that God asked him to and didn't command him to. Why did God asked and not command? Recall that God had already told him that the laws he's making are man's laws, not God's laws. That's why it was a request from God and not a command. Notice God told him to put it in writing. What did Jesus say, "It has been written".
Now you know when and why it had been written, and who wrote.
That tells you God knew that Jesus was going to be asked that question. Since God knew, then why would he want Jesus to give the answer he gave? What does the bible say? God will delusion sinners to believe a lie. All people are sinners. Does not the bible say that the people in the last days will have been brought up to be convinced that the false teachings they had been taught are true? Yes it does say that.
If Billy had really understood the bible, then what would his question had been? First of all, He would had said they both are telling the truth, but you would have to go by what the man in the old testament said, that it is not ok to divorce, or even to divorce and remarry if adultery has been committed under God's laws. Also, Jesus said it had been written that it's ok to, but that doesn't mean it actually is. Why, because when Jesus was asked that question again later, He said that it is not ok to divorce, or divorce and remarry even if adultery was committed.
When you compare when he said "It has been written" to the other verses that speak straight out, then you should see that God's intent was to delusion sinners to believe a lie when they see when Jesus said "It has been written,"
Jesus didn't lie. God didn't lie. But people misunderstanding is what causes the lies.
As you can see, Through all these years preachers, including Billy Graham have been lying to people unknowingly, which in turn has been causing millions and millions of people to believe a lie and commit sins.
Jesus warned that the people are guided and instructed by the devil, not God as they believe.
The bible clearly says that God is going to guide and instruct only one man walking the earth in the last days, not the people.
There's so many people claiming that when they read the bible God is guiding them and instructing them while they are reading the verses.
If that's true, then why have all of the preachers and other people failed to notice what I have just revealed?
Even the questions I have asked so far, no one has been able to give the actual correct answers. If God has actually been guiding and instructing the people, at least someone would have given the correct answers to my questions.
The words in the bible are God's, but it's the techniques and methods used to get it written is what helps people not to understand how to read it and understand what the words and verses actually means.
