Kind of difficult due to different beliefs, but bear with me

Atheists: Let's say King Morpo, creator of the universe meets you after you die, has a proposal for you. Offers you to reincarnate as a human one time. Would you take the opportunity to live a completely new second life, or was one good enough for you?

Christians: God does the same for you. He stops you before the time of Judgement, says he'll give you another life on earth and you have no recollection of your past life. Would you take that offer, or would you rather go straight into the afterlife?

Any other faiths that would like to weigh in, please feel free to do so :)

As an atheist with no chance of an afterlife, I'd probably choose to just die, especially if the same standards that apply to Christians would apply to me, i.e. no recollection of my past life. I wouldn't be myself anymore, so what would the point be? And if I did have a memory of it, I don't think I'd want to "try again," knowing that it would be finite and that I would end up not existing anymore in the end. If I were offered immortality, I would take it... but not another mortal life.

I really loved my life. Still do as a matter of fact :P

I think I would like to live again. Not as another chance to live the same life again, but as a chance to experience all of life again. My first day at school, my first friend, my first kiss, my first job... But even more than that. I want to discover it all. All over again. I'm happy with my memories, but they only serve me while I'm in this life. Once I die, I have no attachment to them.

I think of it sort of like a movie theater with no signs at the doors for what movie is playing. You go in at the alloted time and you watch the movie. Maybe you liked it, maybe you didn't. Now you can chose to go home, or watch another. And I'd like another :) Because it's fun. I can always go home in the end. That option doesn't change. I see no rush to do it after the first run through. Or the second. Or the third... You get my drift :)

Atheist here... and I'd probably take the deal.

It's actually a scary thought though, isn't it? If you've been lucky enough to escape a really crappy life in a backward land... and you've managed to survive all the pitfalls of war, terrorism, tragic natural disasters, etc., ... risking a second time around doesn't sound to kool.. the adds are stacked against it happening a second time.

But ... just the same, I'd go for it.... I mean, getting laid for the first time, (again,) would be worth it, eh? ...LOL

I used to think that everyone who died would be buried and be resurrected but a special group would go to heavan. I felt like the lucky one to be staying. I love the Earth. Heavan seems like a dream while this material world is reality. I don't remember heavan. Someday, I'll be back and life will be easier and I will have lots of experiences and learning under my belt.

This idea is covered in a fictional show Twice in a Lifetime. They end up with no memory of their one hour adventure.

I can't imagine anyone choosing another shot at living a mortal life in this sin-cursed world over eternal joy in Paradice, unless you were aborted before ever experiencing the difference between GOOD and evil..

I would never want to relive this life and go back one second.
I'll take my chances in the future. To live this life again with no recollection of the past would be cruel and inhuman treatment.

King Morpo just doesn't quite have the same ring as GOD....does it? Too Funny that you STILL gave Atheists a supreme being, lol.
And, btw...once is enough. The world today is turning to the dark side....and there aren't many of us jedi left.

I am a Christian but I don't believe in reincarnation. However, if I were to answer your question, obviously I would prefer to have another life on earth.

I would much rather sit at the feet of the Father than live another life on this earth. This life is a journey, not a destination.

I'd have to hear more info. about the afterlife before I could make a proper decision. But, I would be more likely to want to keep my current consciousness with it's memories, thoughts and fantasies. I'm O.K. enough to keep, I don't need to trade me in. LOL
