Antihistamine such as Benidryl (comes in pills and gel spray ) and a cold pack - If it continues to get worse you may have to see a Doctor especially if the redness continues to spread or if you have other symptoms such as difficult swallowing or breathing .

Definately get to a doctor. Cat bites become infected 85% of the time, dogs only 15% and human bites about 92% of the time. Your doc will most likely put you on a combination of antibiotics. One that will kill aerobic bacteria and one that will kill the anaerobic bacteria. Such as Levaquin and Clindamycin. DON"T LET IT GO THOUGH!!! I'm a licensed veterinary nurse and have seen these things get ugly fast. Including one time when I was bit. I let it go and ended up in the hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics. Ugg! Soaking the area in warm water with betadine added to it in the mean time. You can get betadine at any drug store. And while cat scratch is possible, more than likely you're looking a case of sepsis ( general systemic bloodborne infection). I would go to the emergency room now, before it gets any worse! If it is round and red with a red dot on top that looks like blood but is dry to touch, it could be a horse-fly bite and they are very sore. Put cream on it and wait for it to heal. If it does not have this description, go to the doctor to be on the safe side! Good Luck!

Sounds like you have been bitten by a spider. I have had the same issue and I soaked my arm in epson salt and warm water. Also, you may want to put some antibotic ointment on it. Tylenol will help with the pain. If it should get ***** see a doc.

Antihistamine tablets
Antihistamine cream
Ice pack
"Click" gadget (buy from Boots- my daughter living in the Middle East swears by them for the kids)
To ward off future attacks (we have been promised mammoth mozzies this month) take a daily garlic tablet and Vitamin B1 (thiamin) & wear sleeves
If it looks as though it is infected - seek Medical advice.

apply ice to the affected area.

you may take a number of analgesics like paracetamol or stronger agents NSAIDs (e.g. meloxicam, diclofenac) or COX-2 inhibitors (etoricoxib)

keep the area always clean and do not try to scratch it.

do not apply steroid creams. most insect bites are contaminated in varying degrees by microorganisms from the insect's saliva. applying steroid creams may result in infection and abscess formation in the bite area

observe for persistence of inflammation, usually if > 72 hours and if accompanied by other signs or symptoms like fever, a creeping redness from the bite or a discharge from the bite. this may indicate infection. by then you may need to see your personal physician for the proper antibiotics.

also watch out were you got the bite from. it might happen again. make sure your surroundings are clean. you may use insecticide in your house and make your all your sheets are clean

put antihistamine (insect bite) cream on it - this normally helps. and what ever you do don't scratch it - no matter how tempting it is.
