don't judge your tattoo until it is completely healed because the skin does crazy things sometimes. on my last tattoo there was a part that was black and during healing it looked gray and i was kindof worried, and a week later it was black again. wait until it has been 30 days since your tattoo and then you'll have a good idea of what it'll look like.
good luck! keep up the care and don't pick the scabs!!

I got a tattoo in December of '06 and I had the same fear. The scab will fall off by itself (KEEP FROM SCRATCHING) and when it does you will notice that the color is a lot lighter that what you saw it to be on the day you got it. Thats because on the day you got it the color was still fresh. Now its settling in and its true color will be a touch lighter that it was on the first day.
I got red in my tatt and it was so 'Bloody' in terms of color on the first day and then slowly it looked dull but now it looks so RED its amazing. Same happened with the black outline.
Remember to keep doing what you are doing in terms of taking care of it. You should try Vaseline as well at nights to keep that area moisturized

I think its normal. I believe its suppose to do this for a week or two. This is what I was told would happen when I got my tattoo. They also told me to put cream, vaseline or something over it during this time and to keep it away from the sun. I was also told that if after a month it wasn't dark enough I could return to get it redone. Good luck.

dont' worry, the layer that is scabbed is going to peel eventually and the tattoo will look a little lighter at first because the skin is still not totally healed. You should be fine, mine is just getting to the peeling point today. It sounds like yours is healing nicely

Don't judge it until it is completly done healing, depending on the location, needle size, time will determine how long you are in pain or sore. don't pick or scratch at your new tat. Don't worry about what others think of your tats you get them for you not them.
PS.....it does look good thought
