It is the place reserved for those who choose to reject Jesus Christ, where they will get what they wanted, no God. God is all things good, therefore Hell is the absence of all things good.
I'm not scared to go there because I have accepted the free gift of salvation that Jesus offered.
It's not up to you to change your lifestyle. Realistically, you can't do it yourself. That's the whole point. Getting to a place where you realize your own limitations, and finding out that Jesus can fill in the blanks. I was struggling with homosexuality when I became a Christian. It was another couple years before I got freedom from those thoughts and feelings. All you need to do is ask Jesus to come into your life. Make the committment to follow Him, and in His time, He'll lead you out of the bad places that you are in. Immediate perfection is not required. Only having an open heart and following where Jesus leads.

I personally believe in the possibility of anything. My friends call me a pagan because of that belief. If it's "possible" for heaven to exist then it's just as "possible" for hell to exist. There is, I agree, a physical world and a spiritual world but there is more to it then that. How some people can say that resurrection exists but no hell is beyond me. However I don't judge people on what they believe and that's what I would call free will. If you believe in it then great but there's no reason to fear the unknown. Because it is just that, unknown. Hell could be completely different from what we humans say it is or what churches say it is. It's to scare us. My question to you though is what are doing with your life that's so horrible you think you'll go to hell for? If you haven't raped children or taken anyone's life or done something the deserves jail or the death sentence I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as going to hell or not. To think though, it could be a lot of fun! xoxoxo

Hell is described as a bottomless pit (Luke 8:31, Revelation 9:1), and a lake of fire, burning with sulfur, where the inhabitants will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10). In hell, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, indicating intense grief and anger (Matthew 13:42). It is a place “where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out” (Mark 9:48). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways so that they can live (Ezekiel 33:11). But He will not force us into submission; if we choose to reject Him, He has little choice but to give us what we want – to live apart from Him.
Every Christian receives the Holy Spirit after receiving Christ as their personal Savior. It is the Holy Spirit of God living inside of you that enables you to make lifestyle changes. God does not expect immediate change overnight. He expects all Christians to grow in their daily walk with him.

There is no need to be scared about that. God doesn't torment the dead.
Still, most people like decent things. God doesn't disapprove of that. So what is so hard about his demand that people have faith that he is and can help those that need it, that he sent his son as a ransom and that we need to believe in this.
Is that really too expensive?
If you need to check what the scriptures say about hell, etc go to this homepage. There are many subjects related to that:

I do believe in hell, as clearly do you, if you fear it.
The fact that you chose not to change your life implies that you don't have a grasp on your own mortality and fragility. It also suggests that you may be focused to much on yourself. Though you worry about what will happen to you at a time in the future you feel is to distant to be a concern, you may not think about how your actions affect those around you. Every choice you make has an affect on the path of the lives around you. Teaching yourself to think more about the affects of your actions may teach you to see reasons to change your life for the better.
You seem to want to make better choices, but not follow through, maybe turning your focus outward will help you see the value in making changes.

I do believe in hell. And I know enough about it to know that I would never want to spend a second there. Jesus spoken about sin and hell 10 times more often than Heaven for a reason. It was a warning...one we should all take very seriously.
You are feeling what you said above for a reason. God gave you a spirit...which is and can be utilized to warn you of dangers in your life. My thoughts...ALWAYS listen to your spirit. It has never led me to the wrong place. God bless.

the only thing to fear is ignorance and there's no need to fear that either, actually :-) The thing to do is to understand. What is going on with heaven and hell is they are states of mind which you take with you wherever you go. So when you die if you are in a hellish state of mind, you will experience hell, but you were already experiencing it when you were alive. Alive, dead, same rules of mind.

There is no evidence for this fairytale location. Improve your life so you can lead a fulfilling one, not so you can avoid going to an imaginary place after death.

I've always said that a god that can condemn a moral person is not only not my god, but is my implacable enemy. So, if a moral person who doesn't believe in Jesus can be condemned, then I don't want to enter the "heave" of the god who did the condemning.
In fact, if god could really condemn moral people, then I would feel compelled by my morality to fight against him at every turn.
Fortunantly, god won't condmen you if you try to lead a moral life.
