Are you talking about the blisters or the pain? The virus that causes Shingles is inside your body in your nervous system. The virus crawls to the surface of your skin and may or may not cause blisters. I had Shingles, but I only got about 5 blisters from it. But I suffered severe nerve damage inside my body from the virus. The pain goes from the middle of my back and down my left leg. I've had the pain for 7 years, which is uncommon for someone in their younger years.

Shingles is not contagious. You cannot get Shingles by being around someone who has it. If someone has not had the chicken pox, then it is possible to catch chicken pox from someone who has an outbreak of shingles.
