John 5:28-29

28. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice

29. and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Mathew 27

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

John 14

2. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also

you read it for yourself-
All the dead will lay in the grave until Jesus comes again-
One will NOT go into heaven before the other....We will all go when Christ comes to take us home.
Key thought: If the Bible tells us the dead will be resurrected @ Christs' 2ND coming-- why would people go to heaven then have to come back here to be resurrected...during the 2ND coming?? If they are in heaven prior to his coming..why would they have to come back? I believe people like to think their loved ones are in heaven... it makes the grief easier..but then again-- they are fooling themselves..

The soul and spirit go upon death. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Later a body is given that will be suitable for the the eternal enviroment where we will be.

This is how I view the Christian afterlife. When you die you "sleep" until the resurrection. However, in that sleep you may have wonderful dreams of heaven, or horrible nightmares of hell. You finally awaken from your sleep on the day of judgement. Of course, this is just an analogy.

Yes it's heaven or hell... choose christ go to heaven, choose the world go to hell, either way our spirit will live forever we have to make the choice now on where we want to spend eternity.
God Bless

There is no monstrous divine conceit, the Infinite reducing Itself to only two finite extremes; there is only the reality behind the word, "God". Only this, and it is only love/peace/joy...and every individual, at the core, knows this.

It's pretty clear, pretty black and white - one way or the other. It will be an eternity of joy or an eternity to wonder why you were dense and just couldn't believe. It will be beautiful beyond imagination where I'm going. Hope to meet you there!

Yes.....

It's either heaven with Christ...
Or hell without Him

But to really answer your question:
When we physically die.....that's when it happens. Our spirit will go to one of those 2 places I mentioned. And then we will get new bodies at the resurrection (1 Cor 15:51-58)

The after life probably is an expanding place that has different levels to it.

I think what your getting at is, do we sleep until we're called? I believe we do. But as we are asleep, we will not notice the passage of time, so, it will appear that it was instantaneous.
