The curse of the LAW is sin and death. Through grace we are saved we no longer are put to death for sin. Jesus broke that curse when he said it is finished.
We see in the book of Acts when the saints gave more in the New Testament than in the Old Testament. Acts 4:32-35
Please read these scripture about the law found in the New Testament. A * pay close attention.
Hebrews 8:10*
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Matthew 5:17*
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:18*
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 22:36-40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Luke 10:26-28
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
Luke 16:17*
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
John 7:49
But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.
Romans 2:13
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:14&15
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Romans 2:26
Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 3:31*
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Romans 5:20
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:15*
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Romans 7:2
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
(NewTestament on the law of divorce.)
Romans 7:6
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
(Born of the spirit in the New Testament)
Romans 7:7*
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Romans 7:12*
Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Romans 7:14
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Romans 7:22*
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Romans 8:2*
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
WE ARE FREE FROM THE CURSE OF SIN AND DEATH, WE ARE NOW UNDER GRACE. WE NO LONGER ARE STONED OR KILLED FOR BREAKING GODS WORD. WE HAVE BEEN FREED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW.
Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Romans 8:4*
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LAW IS NOW WITHIN US. IT WAS NEVER DESTROYED BUT RATHER PUT IN OUR HEARTS THROUGH THE HOLY GHOST. (HOLY SPIRIT)
Romans 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Romans 9:32
Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
HE PUT IT IN OUR HEARTS AND NOT ON PAPER
Romans 13:10*
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
The love of Jesus Christ is the first fruit of the spirit. In love rest all the law and prophets. God is love. If you have the spirit of God in you you have this love. Love is the fulfilling of the law.
Jesus never detroyed the law. He fulfiled it and put it in our hearts. It continues now in our heart. This means all who have the spirit of God keep the law with out the letter, for the letter killeth but the spirit giveth life. Because we have it in our hearts.
1 Corinthians 7:39
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
(how is a woman bound bty the law if the law was done away with?)
Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
KEEPING THE LAW WITHOUT HAVING JESUS DOES NOT SAVE US. OUR FAITH IN JESUS IS WHAT SAVES US.
Galatians 3:11
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Galatians 3:13
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
THE CURSE OF THE LAW IS DEATH
Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Galatians 5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
IF WE LIVE BY THE LETTER OF THE LAW WE ARE NOT FOLLOWING CHRIST. BUT THROUGH CHRIST IT IS FULFILLED.
Galatians 5:14
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Galatians 5:18*
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Galatians 6:2*
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
NOTICE THIS WAS DONE IN THE BOOK OF ACTS.
Acts 4:32-35
32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
Philippians 3:9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
1 Timothy 1:8*
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
1 Timothy 1:9*
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1 John 3:4*
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Sorry for this being so long.

Jesus once said to a group of Pharisees "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's!" Therefore, it stands to reason that we do still tithe and are bound by the law of man to support our laws as well. The tithe didn't go away when Christ died as many seem to believe. If Jesus had had a different agenda based on God's plan, His death would've rendered tithing ended. But, we're cursed when we fail God in this regard, for "the workman (ministry in this case) is worthy of his hire." If we "cut off" the church, we take away from a pastor's pay, the churches' ability to support others in need, operate mission works, and keep the lights and water running in the church house!

Tithing, giving is to be from the heart. God loves a cheerful giver. It is a personal thing between you and God. It is not meant to be legalistic. I've done that to my cost. If you pray with your heart to God He will show you if He wants you to give to a certain person or to give a regular amount to your church. Be open with this. Malachi is also God saying that in the end He is the one that gives you everything anyway and that if you give you can trust God to bring abundance into your life, but it has to be from the heart and not begrudingly. Hope this helps. The church gets tied up in knots about this. Living by faith, sometimes giving everything we have can be something God might ask us to do.

Tithes are only mentioned in the N.T. with regard to the O.T. laws the Jews followed. Christians are not bound by those laws except where they're generalized for all people (10 commandments for example). That said, churches have bills just like anyone else. Do whatever God leads you to do. I find that 10% is a good number to use in my giving to my church.

Tithing is a legalistic formula for giving under the old covenant between God and the Jewish people. New Testament believers are no longer under the law, however we are called to support God's Kingdom work here on earth and that includes giving to support those who preach and teach the word.
1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer deserves his wages."
Instead of tithing, Christians are called to be prayerful and cheerful givers. Many Christians feel that giving only 10% of the income that God makes them stewards of is not enough to show their love for Him and their gratitude for what Jesus has done on their behalf.
Here's the passage that describes how NT believers are to give.
2 Corinthians 9:6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." 10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way for all your generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
If you want to learn more about this subject then check out "Giving God's Way": Understanding how we should prioritize and support God's kingdom through giving; seven principles for becoming an excellent giver; how God blesses generous givers (based on Matthew 6:19-24 and other passages) @ http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Enduring_Truth/archives.asp

Dodie,
We are no longer held to the Israelite's Tithing. We are told to "Give as we have been prospered" on the first day of the week". The First Century Churches did this and we are to do so. Have a nice weekend.
Thanks,

Christians are meant to supply sacrificially. which could mean extra advantageous than ten % of the gross. Tithe ability ten % of the gross earnings, and that's the "commencing factor". to three, giving a greenback would somewhat signify a sacrifice. To others, even giving twenty 5 % does no longer signify a sacrifice. the in need of that's that God needs you to have confidence Him to supply to your funds. What i stumbled on is that by using fact i began out tithing, I have not got any situation paying the expenses. as quickly as I did no longer tithe I constantly struggled to maintain my head above water. undergo in innovations although, that's like planting a seed. It does not sprout in the present day, so which you are able to not basically tithe as quickly as and then say, "It did no longer artwork." you will desire to coach God which you somewhat have confidence Him. Tithing is the only element that God instructed us to aim Him in. He pronounced that if we attempt Him he will come by in dramatic vogue. for people who say the Church in basic terms needs you funds, what does McDonalds opt for? What does the dept keep opt for? What does the Water enterprise opt for? What does the vehicle dealership opt for? What does the mortgage enterprise opt for? they only opt for you funds! they are going to take despite they are able to get from you so as to make a earnings. The Church will additionally take despite you provide and use it to assist exchange lives worldwide huge - To feed the hungry, To gown the needy, To heal the ill, to abode the homeless....the record is going on and on and is barely constrained by ability of what you're prepared to sacrifice for the sake of others. provide sacrificially. God WILL bless you and your loved ones.
