The bible STRONGLY IMPLIES that the world is 6,000 years, but says nothing to that effect. The writers probably viewed that little fact as unimportant. Geologists estimate it's around 4.5 billion years old.

No where in the Bible do you find a passage telling how old the world is. People have attempted to patch various passages together and gotten out their calculators and claimed that the Bible teaches that the earth is about 6,000 years old, but the passages that they use are not written to give the age of the earth.
Genesis chapter 1 can be interpreted in many different ways. Here's a link to understand more about this subject.

What does Genesis 1 really teach?
The debate between Christianity and science concerns not just the scientific facts, but how they fit in with the teaching of the Bible, particularly with Genesis 1. So let's explore that.
I am aware of seven different ways in which Genesis 1 is interpreted. They are not all mutually exclusive, though most are. There are variations on some of these interpretations which I won't go into. However, as this is so crucial to the debate I think it is important to mention them all. The first four of these interpretations all take the "day" of this chapter to refer to a day of 24 hours.

You asked "How old does the Bible say the WORLD is?" The Bible does not speak on the age of the world. Read Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." That says that at some unspecified tiime in the past, God created the universe which is comprised of the heavens (all the galaxies, and stuff) and the earth - the planet on which we live. Notice also that "in the beginning" mentions absolutely no date or age.
Now beginning with verse 2, we deal with God's preparation of earth for habitation. Not creation - preparation.
Science says the earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old, and that the universe is about 13.7 billions years old if I remember correctly. The Bible does not contradict this estimate at all.

Actually.. the bible doesn't state how old the world is.
The Archbishop of Armagh, James Ussher, in 1650, published the Ussher chronology based on Bible history giving a date for Creation of 4004 BC. And that seems to be used by many Creationists as a date for when the world was created.
But who knows how long Adam was supposed to be in the garden of eden before Eve was made and they were ejected from the garden.
Personally I believe it is 4.5 billion years plus or minus .5 billion years.

It doesn't.
Moses' words in Genesis were not meant to be a science manual. It was like the READER'S DIGEST version of the early Earth period. Organized religion gets confused with Moses' brief words in Genesis the 1st chapter and thinks he is talking about 6 literal solar days when he is actually talking about 6 ERAS or how grandpaw is always saying "Back in my day boy... blah blah blah" Is grandpaw talking about a literal solar day?
It's like this... A creative day was probably about 7,000 years a piece give or take. 6 x 7,000 is 42,000 years. So that changes Fundamentalists crazy equations drastically! Bible chronology indicates that Adam may have been created in the year 4,026 B.C.E. That's over 6,000 years ago! So 42,000 + 6,000. Now we have NO idea how many years before 48,000 years ago the earth laid formless in a lava like state. Science (i.e. geologists) says BILLIONS of years. So maybe the earth is billions of years old. No human really knows the correct answer - yet.
However the BIG BANG (BB) theory was proven right by AT&T back in the 1960's. That did occur MANY billions of years ago. God obviously caused that singularity to explode and form the known Universe. Fundamentalist Christians poo-poo this because BB scientists leave the God part out. But that's just illogical for BOTH of them to think.
If the earth is actually billions of years old guess what? The angels, including Satan and his angels, are too. Fancy that - remember they where praising God for His creations in Genesis 1? We young humans try to pit ourselves against oldsters like that. Some say they don't exist. The devil gets a great LOL over that one. He spent the past 6,000 years trying to convince us that he never existed. Greatest trick of all time don't ja' know? LOL!

"real fact" as you call it dates the earth as billions of years old. However it is not "fact" at all. It is conjecture based on some scientific reasoning and testing.
The problem is many of those tests (like carbon dating) have been shown to be highly innacurate as of late, so there is no "facts" to prove how old the world is, only theories.

There are diverse communities interior the christian community who provides you with diverse solutions. yet I unquestionably have constantly considered that the commencing up of Genesis replaced right into a replenishing of what replaced into already there. It replaced into dark yet there replaced into water on the face of the deep. So I visualize a around aquatic planet. That to me ability that something devastating befell corresponding to the flood of Noah. All existence - the dinosaur age- replaced into wiped out. this thought isn't in basic terms hypothesis on my area. there's a scripture that states of a worldwide that then replaced into. talking of a prior device of existence on the earth. What reads as a linear record of time from Genesis and stretches forward overlaying 6,000 years. The tricks that i've got stated point out that the earth is unquestionably older. yet i do no longer settle for the evolutionary rationalization that announces it somewhat is billions of years old. The Bible does not point out dinosaurs plenty by using fact God bargains with present day concerns. The acknowledged previous in basic terms is going back to the Genesis account. . Adam and Eve weren't "white" human beings. The Bible states that their bodies were made from the dirt. The Hebrew word for "dirt".. or "dirt" of the floor, is "adama". Which interprets as "crimson". the place did the races come from?.. properly. It happens by using fact of recessive and dominant genes. observed by ability of the scattering and settling of the conglomerate human beings as time went on. As human beings all of us can hint our genealogical roots back to a minimum of one Genesis couple.

The "real fact" is, the chronology is written into the Bible.
People have painstakingly gone through and added every time a year or age was mentioned. It always comes out to roughly 6000 years. Most agree at 4004B.C.
