" He showed me a book called the Bible. I read the Bible and sure enough the Bible says that the Bible is true"
Logic alert. The bible says the bible is true?
Do you have any scientific training at all, do you know the bible and most religions don't stand up the slightest scientific scrutiny at all?
You don't cite any of this "scientific proof" I'd be extremely interested to know what this "scientific proof" is? I'm relatively sure there are other people on this board who would like to know as well.

The bible says the bible is true? .... Well of course it does. Would you expect it to claim that it was all lies?
Scientific proof that christianity is the one true religion when in fact christianity has split into countless separate denominations, some of which have been warring for centuries over which is right?.... Scientific proof that christianity is the one true religion just randomly held by one person and passed out to one other person when the rest of humanity has tried and failed to find such a thing for centuries?
Are you serious here or is this satire?
I seriously hope it is satire...

Easy. There is no proof for the supernatural--at all.
Lol, sorry but your view does not sound skeptical. The Bible is not proof for a god any more than the Koran or the Egyptian book of the Dead. And using circular logic is not science.
If I choose the ancient book that I believed was most likely written by a deity (B. Gita, rather beautiful and peaceful, too!), then I would have converted to Hinduism long ago.
Simply admit that you wanted to believe. :-)
Cheers!

The Bible was written by humans - fallible humans. Humans who lived before science provided us with explanations for much of the physical universe, and those explanations, unlike the Bible, have been born out by subsequent trial-and-error. We use science to cure diseases, send people into space, and yes, even to keep our computers running. While we can trace the origins of science back in time, people like Archimedes and Pythagoras gave us the basic concepts, which then required centuries of refinement to arrive at their current state of utility. For what do we use the religious ideas of 2,000-year-old people? When have their ideas even been confirmed?

Poor boy, Atheist is also kind of religious which believe the so called science which changing every year. Every year will have a new proof to ruin the old proofs. Whatever religious in our world are ways of enlightenment. For those ancient religious were according to their only man told their people to do. Bible was written by Moses/Aron who tells parts of the history in Middle east. That is why bible will never mentioned Dinosauses because they did not see it. Every religious in our world will tell their god is their skin, their dress and their images. A black people's god must be a black skin god. Their devils must be other images or skin. If one bible can proof your need, others such as Kooran, Budhaist sutras, veda, Toa etc also can changed your mind. Unless you are happy with the religious of darmas, it is not a issue. You go by air, boat, riding horse, walk on foot are your choice. At least, you are going.

=) Good summation of totally ridiculous reasons to believe wild claims.
I think plenty of people do believe for as little reason as this, they believe because they want to though not because of meaningful evidence. I haven't converted because they are ludicrous beliefs without any real proof that I believe hurt society more than they help. Plus just read the OT, what an evil tyrant their God would be if it existed.

"I am the one true religion. You will know this is true because I have said it is true. Worship me or burn in hell."
There. Is that enough scientific evidence for ya? I said I'm the real deal, so by your logic, I must be. Look, now you're converted!

I will not convert because religion has been and will always be full of fallacies.
Edit:
you stated that I read the Bible and sure enough the Bible says that the Bible is true.
That's circular logic.

Wait I didn't even know the bible said it was true. Why have people been hiding this? And this happy feeling did you get it too? I like happy feelings. This has really shaken my spiritual foundations.
