My friend has a kind of wooden devise which he puts in the water behind his rowing boat to catch mackerel, anyone have any idea of how to make one?

As far as lures mackerels are attracted to shiny metal and colored plastic tubes. Start your machine with those two.

if its what i think it is its a wooden or plastic board shaped a bit like a boat with a small weight at the pointed end.
it acts a bit like a kite but as the boat goes along it pulls the line down.
then when you catch a fish it come to the surface of the water.
i can,t really explain how to make one without having to draw it.
but i remember using them when i was a kid.
my mate still has one and i have just recently seen a plastic one in our local tackle shop.
i don,t even know what there called.
just had a look on the net and the closes i could find was somthing called a troll board.
