I think you have misunderstood the word Atheist , it does not mean Anti-Theist or Anti-Christian or Anti-Belief. It just means ' absence of belief '.
It’s like you might support Manchester United football team and I have no interest in football ... why should I challenge your belief that Man U is the greatest football team ? It doesn’t make sense .
If you are looking for your beliefs to be challenged , seek out a fundamentalist Atheists or pop into an Atheist chat room , I like the one on ICQ .

If I had a penny for every time somebody assumes each and every person on line is American... And even if i could combat quite strongly for secularism, i do no longer see faith as 'the enemy' and you're previous naive in case you think of a worldwide without faith could be some style of 'rational utopia'. It won't do away with the petty tribalism in human nature, and atheists are not unavoidably much less petty/grasping/ability hungry than theists. faith isn't the only source of 'misery, suffering and common conflict'. even nonetheless we are able to excellent judgment and reason we are no longer clearly logical creatures and we on no account would be. in case you elect for tolerance, set an occasion. do no longer make issues much extra into 'us vs. them'.

Wouldn't be much of a party if they did. Atheists and pagans generally know how to party. That's just my personnal experience. I actually went to a aprty organised by a christian fundie before because a friend of mine didn't want to go but it was her friend that organised it. It was scary, to say the least. Religion was discussed and I kept getting the expression that they wanted to burn me alive.

As an atheist, I can only speak for myself, I never ask anyone about their beliefs, that is their business not mine, if they want to believe in a god in whatever form that's up to them,
as long as they don't try and "convert" or "save" me then I'm happy, likewise I don't preach atheism to people, unless they kick off with some daft religious mumbo jumbo.

Been to both....many atheist stand for nothing...not all...some really think...others just stand for what others tell them....gee that sounds like Christians....also like our Political System in the US...Democrats verses Republicans...people are people and when you get right down to it there is not a whole lot of difference...we all want to believe that our ideas are the ones that are correct.

Mostly because we care about you as a person & hope that you are having a good time instead of whether you secretly believe in fairy tales or not.
We enjoy the party because we are rational enough to realize that this is life and it is all we are going to get.

Because they have no axe to grind and can accept people for who they are.
I understand that some religious leaders where also like that but the religions they created have been distorted so that the members believe that they are part of an 'elite' club.

why should they? they're probably just happy enough getting on with things, they don't have any religious beliefs. and they're probably just having a good time, after all it is a party and we all know that discussing different religions can cause a lot of problems, so just accept it that they don't care about your beliefs

To voice a generalised theory is by the way, challenging others beliefs in just the same way that seems to upset you and will incur others wrath by doing so ... I do not see that as a better way at all.

I just WOULD NOT ask anyone about about their religious inclinations, for several reasons.
1 , I don't care
2 did you ever hear the saying never discuss religion or politics, only ever leads to arguments
3 I'm happy enough with my own faith, I don't want someone shoving theirs down my throat
4. It's a party, relax
5. what religion or faith you have should never be an indication of WHO you are, it's a facet of you, not you
6. it's ignorant to just talk about yourself all the time
