I'm sure they both are equal when it comes to loyalty!!!!

Both are great dogs! Most all dogs are loyal. I think it is the time and attention you give your dog.
If you are trying to pick a breed, the hair may be an issue in needing protection from weather.
They have different tendencies. Shepherds are herders and protectors. Dobermans are alert watch dogs and have an appearance that is meant to intimidate a criminal...... even if they are mushy, lovebugs. However, both have also been known to bite.
Also, they have different health problems, so I would go to the breed club of American and check their sites out.

I am partial to German Shepherds. When we were growing up, we had one save my sister. She was walking toward the road and he gently grabbed her arm and brought her up to the house. He didn't leave any marks either.
They are both good guard dogs. It depends on how they are raised. German Shepherd's are a better temperament overall, I think. Dobermans are sharp. They are both smart and loyal. Each individual dog will be different.

That's a really hard question.Both breeds are bred to be loyal,almost to a fault,so I would say,if you're asking this to decide which breed to buy,then pick the one that YOU like the best,and that dog will be loyal as can be,as long as you treat it with kindness.

Dogs are social (pack) animals. All dogs are loyal to their pack. But the key is that the owner has to be the alpha dog, if not, the dog will assume that role and will not seem loyal. The person who said training was right.

They are both loyal, but I prefer Dobie's. I think they are Beautiful! And I just like their personality better. But this is Just personal opinion. Both can be great family companions.

Both...it's a matter of training.If you stand by it's side always(like a true comrade) he will always be loyal to you and protective...

what do you want it for? a GSD is a much more versatile dog, and you will have years of enjoyment from him, ASSUMING HE'S HEALTHY. they are great famiy dogs, too.
dobs are great dogs, too, not quite as versatile, maybe, but very easiy trained, and good family dogs.
